I stayed at the beautiful hotel for one night and wished I had stayed longer. The service at the hotel was fantastic. the lady on the check in counter was delightful and went out of her way to show us to our room and make sure we were happy with everything. The rooms have have fantastic views looking out to the ocean and are bright and modern. The bar again has amazing views and is a great spot for a drink and a chat. the breakfast teh next morning was great. All in all a very good value for money modern hotel which I cant wait to come back to!!

As a frequent visitor to this part of cornwall ,On this occasion I called in for a meal as I've been in love with the views over st ives that this hotel offers. I also wanted to gauge the current staff and assess the recent refurbishment as it's been a while since my last stay at this hotel .
I was planning a future romantic break for my partner as she hasn't stayed in st ives . While enjoying an ale at the bar, I made an enquiry regarding the availability of the state room as this offers a spacious suite and a bath with lovely views. However during the conversation a member of staff mentioned the bar area always gets busy once someone uses the bath in this room! Not having an interest in voeurism needless to say I didn't book! Which is a shame as it is one of the larger rooms.
On a positive note the food was very good ! The scallops are always delicious ! The fish was superb and as usual the deserts were calorific but lovely! And not forgetting the view if you book s table near the window.
Keep up the good work but maybe a little in house customer service training ended for some staff ? And privacy for guests who would want to enjoy the view whilst in the bath .

Many thanks for your review following your recent visit. We hope you are pleased with our on-going refurbishment work, we feel that it adds to the already existing ambience within the building. With regards to the comments that you have raised about the State Room, this was refurbished in December 2012, and the bathroom area has wooden shutters in the windows to ensure the total privacy of those staying in this room. This is one of our most popular rooms with guests’ changing their travel plans just so they can stay in our Stateroom. We have spent a lot of time on our “Brewing a Passion” training programme for customer service, all comments raised on Tripadvisor are investigated fully. If you would like any further information on any of our other rooms, please contact our reception team who will are more familiar with the layout of each room. We’re pleased you enjoyed your dining experience with us; all our food produce is sourced locally from suppliers who are within a 30-mile radius of the hotel. We do hope this experience hasn’t put you off visiting or staying with us in the future.

Stayed in St Ives last weekend, not at this hotel, but went there for drinks on a couple of occasions. Have been several times before and it's a magic place, just looking out across the bay with a glass of wine (or 2) and a sharing platter was just heaven, so peaceful and relaxed. Can't wait to return in September.

This has to be the best located hotel in St.Ives. Since being taken over by St Austell brewery the hotel has had a good level of investment put into it. We were in room 3. The room had a view of Portminster beach, the bathroom a view of the harbour. Clean white beach type rooms. As a couple, we originally had a family roomed booked as that was all available, but were upgraded to a standard double on arrival. The room is small, although we spent most of the time out and about. Tiny 15" lcd tv which was a shame as it struggled. Huge comfortable bed. Downsides: The free wifi in rooms cant cope very well and is inconsistent. The strong smell of fresh paint kept us awake and gave us headaches. We stayed 2 nights, and depending which restaurant/ breakfast staff you got depended on the level of service. Friday evening/ Sat morning- staff shocking, with no clue about service to the point of no training, yet food exceptional. On the Sunday crew were the best, yet food was average, and over cooked with smaller portions. There were 2 redeeming experiences..... the first being that I got a good deal by phoning the hotel, rather than go via websites. The 2nd being that I left something in the room, and the hotel found it and sent it to meby post. Overall, a terrific experience and a wonderful hotel. My only comment is that its a little over priced for what you get, and I suspect they trade on the views/ location to justify these costs.

Room Tip: Phone the hotel directly to get best service and value deals.

My Partner and I have walked by this hotel on previous visits to St. Ives an finally booked in for a long weekend. I had mentioned in my booking that this was a treat for my Partners Birthday and upon arrival they had a complimentary Birthday card from the management and staff and box of local shortbread biscuits. Really lovely. Our room was one of the two on the water side with a balcony. Gorgeous views. We had a 3 great nights of sleep with the waves crashing below. Amazing breakfasts and a lovely dinner one night in the bar. The Staff were all very helpful and always friendly. The location is ideal for walking into town and close enough to go back and forth during the day without hiking up any hills. We are very happy we finally booked in and will come back again.

Room Tip: Room 29 had a perfect balcony with views of both the harbour and the bay
