We stayed in room no.1 which overlooks the sea from a nice and big window. The room was not that big, but more than just clean---super comfortable and we felt happy when we were on the way back to the room at the end of a day. It was a bit hard to find the location at first, because we arrived in St.Ives at night by train, but nonetheless once you find the way, it is not far from the town center despite a bit steep slope.
It would be desirable if the room had a bath tub, but I understand it is difficult to wish for it for the modest accommodation fee. Overall, it is almost perfect. I really wish to revisit St.Ives again (hopefully when it is less windy...haha) and stay at Gekko Lodge. Honestly speaking, it was more comfortable for us to stay than more expensive hotel in Nice, where we had visited the week before.
Lastly, but not least, Catherine is really a nice host and also we loved the breakfast she cooked every morning. She offered us various kinds of breakfast and we requested different one every morning. They were the best breakfast ever in UK.

Looking back the stay in Gekko Lodge has made me feel like going back to St.Ives now! I can assure you that it is the place to stay in St. Ives.

I really enjoyed my stay at Gekko Lodge this summer. My daughter and I stayed in the smaller of the 2 rooms for a couple of nights and then moved to the larger attic room when my son joined us. The rooms are medium size but we didn't feel cramped and the available space has been utilised well. No large clumsy wardrobes just plenty of cupboard and hanging space. The rooms are very clean and simply furnished and the ensuites are really nice shower rooms. Catherine is a lovely host, very friendly but had the knack of knowing when to give privacy. She is very knowledgeable about the area and was always happy to inform and help. The breakfasts are just wonderful, definitely sets you up for the whole day! One of the criteria for choosing Gekko Lodge was the wonderful views and it doesn't disappoint at all. I will definitely stay again.

This is out second stay at Gekko Lodge the first several years ago with our eldest daughter but this time we took all of the children. We occupied both rooms which are well decorated, clean and spacious and the views of Porthmeor is beautiful. Catherine is a fantastic host and seems to have the special power of being around when you need her but also allowing you complete privacy. Catherine has an excellent knowledge of the local area and is happy to give you the benefit of her knowledge. The quality and variety of breakfasts is excellent but I have to say that the cooked breakfast will keep us going back time and time again. St Ives has a multitude of things to do with its stunning beaches / galleries and a superb variety of restaurants and bars.

Room Tip: There are two rooms at Gekko Lodge both with sea views

Room was lovely, amazing view! Breakfast set us up for the day- didn't need any lunch, and one day didn't even need dinner!
It was really lovely that there was a fridge in the room, they noticed that we were using it and put out champagne flutes for us. A really nice touch. Catherine gave really good tips about places to visit- its well worth asking her about places to visit.
Couldn't have asked for anything else. Would definitely visit again.

We had a fantastic week when staying at Gekko Lodge. Catherine could not have been more helpful both in recommending things to do, and in providing superb accomodation. Our room was clean, well presented and had a fantastic view. We were made to feel very welcome and the breakfasts were excellent. If you want somewhere to stay in St Ives, look no further than Gekko Lodge

We stayed here in 2010 and went again this year. We love the view of Porthmeor: you can see what the waves are like as soon as you get up. Hostess is excellent: fresh treats like melon or smoothies to supplement breakfast every day and introduced us to the other guests so we could chat if we wanted too. Lovely aromatherapy soap stuff in the bathroom. Proper down pillows and duvet. Location is great too- parking space available and only a few minutes to town/ the beach but very quiet.

We had a lovely weekend at St Ives, staying at Gekko Lodge. We stayed in room 1 which has fabulous views, and was clean and comfortable. Catherine was helpful about where to go and what to see.
We were cooked a tasty breakfast a little later than most guest houses, to our request.. much appreciated.
The location is fine for those fit enough for a hill climb to reach it from the town..
When we next visit St Ives we will definitely try to stay there if Catherine and Sam have a vacancy.
