Owner description: Dolly P is the blue boat operated by St Ives Boats from the harbour at St Ives. Dolly P, is a Lochin 33, a 10 metre boat powered by a 350hp Volvo Penta engine, for a fast, stable and comfortable ride. We are licensed by the MCA to carry 12 passengers up to 60 miles. Our most popular Trip is the one hour trip to Seal Island, which we run hourly (weather permitting) on a daily basis. Seal Island is home to a colony of Grey Atlantic Seals and is 6km west of St Ives. The boat, Dolly P, clings to the coastline before reaching Seal Island where the boat stays for 15-20 minutes to observe the seals. The other boat trips we offer are trips to Godrevy Lighthouse, trips to Hell's Mouth and Private Charters, including Ashes Scattering Services. We also offer Fishing trips from St Ives, both 1 1/2 hour Mackerel Fishing Trips and 4 hour Wreck and reef Fishing Trips. Bookings can be made by Mel, who you will find Outside The Lifeboat Station. Or phone to book

We have stayed near beautiful St Ives for our summer holiday for the last 3 years and no holiday would be complete without a trip out to Seal Island on Dolly P. Dolly P is by far the fastest and best boat trip going out from the harbour. We actually went on 3 times this year!! Seeing the seals in their natural habitat is always an amazing expereince and the coastline views are second to none. The trip is extremely good value for money. All staff are cheerful and helpful and Mike the skipper is friendly and informative. This trip is a must if you are visiting this gorgeous part of the world.

Booked up a trip to Seal Island on a recent visit to Cornwall. I phoned up first and spoke to a lovely lady who gave me all the information I needed. It was a beautiful day and we saw a few seals once at Seal Island. The best part of the trip though was how fast the boat ride was! It seemed to go faster than the other boats around and the driver was purposely making it bounce up and down on the waves, everyone on the boat enjoyed it, young and old alike! We were even aloud to stand up and feel the wind and spray from the sea, it was great!

Fabulous time had by myself and my family on the Dolly P today. We went on the Seal Island trip and did indeed, see seals.

£10 for adults and £8 for children seemed reasonable to me.

The Captain was brilliant and great with the children.

The boat whizzed about and provided us with a real adventure. I would recommend to anyone looking for something to do for an hour.

Top tip, go at low tide rather than high tide.

Also the Dolly P has a toilet!

Perfect family fun.

Informative skipper, interesting routes to and from Seal Island, and the seals appeared on cue. Weather was good, sea quite calm and the Dolly P performed excellently.

Took a boat trip to Godrevy Lighthouse on the Dolly P after reading all the good reviews on here. Called up in the morning and were told we could go down the same day (they do numerous different trips so I think they schedule each one based on projected numbers).

We certainly weren't disappointed, although it was quite the peaceful trundle around the bay that we expected. If you're not used to travelling on small boats then you'll probably be surprised how bumpy it can be and how powerful the boat is (although that made it better for us because we like a bit of adventure!!).

The boat driver (captain?) was really welcoming and seemed to know his stuff and we were confident he'd got the skills to save us if we fell overboard! You sort of get used to keeping your balance after a few minutes and start to enjoy it more.

When we got to the lighthouse he circled it slowly so we could all get photos and talked to us a bit about the history of it. We actually saw a seal - which is a bonus considering we chose not to go on the trip that's specifically for seal watching!

Would definitely recommend this company - and from what I hear they're a lot better than some of the other people in St. Ives who also offer boat trips.
