We have stayed in the main castle a couple of years ago and was banished to the basement, that stay overall was terrible.
We wanted to return to St Ives again and Tregenna had a deal on its self catering properties. We paid 280.00 for the weekend for the two of us in february.
The property was lovely, think it actually slept 4, had two bathrooms and large living/ kitchen space.
The location of the castle is alittle out of St Ives, up the hill, but if you want easy parking, this is the place to be.
The castle grounds are lovely too, although it was very bad weather when we went we couldn't make the most of the surroundings.
The reception staff are still as rude as ever.
And the make shift ramp to the entrance could possibly bankrupt Tregenna should anyone claim compensation for falling over on it.
When wet it was like a ice rink and I went flying, luckily I could get up and carry on, although someone else wouldn't be able to and would sue their backside off!

Took advantage of a special offer and stayed in one of the self catering houses for four nights at the end of June. Had the full use of the hotel facilities - which are excellent, especially the outdoor pool area. The house which was within the hotel grounds, had plenty of space inside, was clean and well equipped - ideal for a self catering family holiday. The hotel grounds are beautiful and it is only a 20 minute walk down the hill to the centre of St. Ives. Requested a dinner reservation at the hotel at the time of booking the holiday - unfortunately no booking was made in either restaurant on my behalf, however this was quickly rectified and we were accommodated. Food was average, so we only ate there once. On the whole a great trip and would stay again.

We booked our wedding at Tregenna for the 24/7/11 and had a fabulous time. Alex our banqueting manager managed to sort out any of the problems that had arisen previously through some of her colleges that were dealing with our booking and this just made us feel so comfortable and happy that we had chosen this as our venue. Then came our big day, everybody that was involved at the hotel could not be more helpfull or happy and smiling which just made our day even better, and with the fabulous location and views, what a brilliant day. Thanks to all involved.

Me and my wife stayed here for 2 nights during a trip to Cornwall. The hotel looks amazing from outside and is set in wonderful grounds but inside it is all very tired. We had a Sea View Double (Rm 120) and the views over St ives Habour and out to sea was truly amazing but the room itself was lacking.

Bathroom was just a shower over the bath and there was mould above the window. There was tissue paper being used to fill holes where radiator piping went through tiles.

The Bed which was twins "zipped" together was pretty uncomfortable and the TV was so small you could barely see it from the bed.

The Staff were all very pleasant and helpful and recommended a fantastic Fish restaurant (The Mermaid on the aptly named "Fish Street").

Also you have to eat in the Porthminster, we booked for the late sitting (9.30pm) and have a window seat looking out to sea, amazing.

A few other little irritations were that all the sofas in reception area were always taking up by kids on their laptops / ipads / iphones...
There was a wedding on the Saturday and there were so many cars it meant we couldnt park our car near the hotel and had to park down the road by the tennis courts which was a little annoying.
Finally, Breakfast on Sunday morning was a disaster, people were queueing for ages whilst tables sat empty as no one was clearing and re-setting them.

All in all a pleasnt stay but would stay here again, 3 star hotel with 5 star price but great views.

Shame as with a little updating it could be awesome.

Room Tip: Rm 120 has AMAZING views.
