Stayed for three nights with my two young children. Staff couldn't have been more helpful and the facilities were great. Ten minute walk into St Ives and 5 minutes from the beach. Outdoor paddling pool an added bonus.

Just stayed for one night. Had breakfast only which was as expected based on what I read in other reviews. You can eat your fill but selection is a little skimpy, OK if you want full English but forget meats and cheeses as you would find in better hotels.
It's quite a way from the harbour but the walk is not arduous and safe.
Bed was very soft.
Latte from the bar to be avoided.

I am glad you enjoyed your soft bed and the not too arduous walk from St Ives harbour, althoughsome previous reviewers may disagree with you though.

We hope should return to St Ives in the future you choose to stay with us and continue enjoying the ambience our resort has to offer.

My family party of 8 stayed at Fairways in August 2013. We were so disappointed with the house - tired decor, scaled showers, chipped worktops and worn carpets and only 1 single door key for three couples & 2 children. We asked for another key and were told we could get one for an extra £10 deposit, petty as we had already paid over £2200 for a week in the house. There were numerous other issues with the house, which we raised with the hotel manager on our return. To be absolutely fair, Sheila the manager responded quickly, fairly and positively and encouraged us to return for a second attempt at self catering at Tregenna - we just returned from a week at North Lodge as Fairways was apparently already fully booked for August 2014 in September last year, hence my reviewing both properties at once. What can I say: yet another disappointment. The house is far less spacious than Fairways despite being for 10 people - the two dark chilly double bedrooms were so compact there was just 1ft each side of the bed, the tiny en-suite bathrooms were dark and again, with scaled showers which only just operated (one so noisy is sounded as though a french horn was being played in it!) Each of these downstairs bathrooms had a tiny corner basin - not a problem but there was no shelf to place toiletries on apart from a high level windowsill. In the two twin bedrooms, you had to negotiate the beds, placed head to foot on different walls, to get through the room to the cupboards and again, they were very compact, though at least they were light - the doubles at the back of the house sat into a walled area so were effectively at basement level. We've rented about a dozen St Ives houses and we know they are prone to dampness but we have never had to have the full central heating on at night-time in August - the temperature drop downstairs was marked and those in the double rooms felt they were damp despite the heating. One of the double room walls evidenced large damp patches - perhaps to do with the grass growing from the guttering above? Otherwise, North Lodge desperately needs a washing machine. There is plenty of room in the upstairs bathroom for one and it would save the 20 minute round trip hike up the hill to the washing machine near the Leisure centre, which we used several times as we had small children with us. Neither Fairways nor North Lodge had instructions on use of the cookers (not everyone cooks electric at home) or more importantly, a telephone - the info folder says in the event of fire, phone them - how do you do this without a phone in the house? Mobile signals in St Ives are at best erratic, sometimes non-existent. Similarly, without the phone, you can't make use of the take-away food service the hotel offers. From the above you'll probably think what a moaner I am - check out some of my other reviews and you'll see that's not the case, particularly the Premier Inn in Plymouth we used on the way down - fab all round and a complete bargain at under £80. We really REALLY wanted to enjoy our time at Tregenna, we thought it would be the epitome of the St Ives resorts/hotels. There ARE some great things about staying there: The swimming pools, both indoor and out are fab (OK so the changing rooms are a little tired, no worse than a council leisure centre though), the kids loved the paddling pool and play area, there are wonderful grounds and the view is to die for. The hotel bar and Brasserie were good. The staff we dealt with (an issue with the tv and dvd player having no connecting lead - duh!) I realise running an estate the size of Tregenna is a money pit of the highest order but I do sincerely encourage them to invest some money in the self-catering properties as they do not in any way reflect adequate value for money. My husband made a point of looking around Fairways again and could see no changes there, I hope he was wrong. Sorry Tregenna, we tried but you aren't for us.

Room Tip: Didn't use hotel rooms just self catering - my tip would be: don't, sorry.

A lovely old hotel in superbly maintained grounds with astonishing views over St.Ives; my problem was with the restaurant manager Kris who, I'm told, prides himself on looking John Rhys-Davies (Indiana Jones films) but has none of the charm of that actor. Brusque would be a compliment. He needs to learn the difference between staff and guests...nuff said!

Room Tip: Choose one with a sea view

Our restaurant manager has been receiving kind comments from our guests since his arrival.

Comments regarding the actor John-Rhys Davies have not been made by any of our staff or by the restaurant manager.

We actively encourage guests to post comments on tripadvisor regarding our resort and not for inappropriate remarks aimed at our staff.

A huge let down due to VERY POOR customer service by one of the members of staff in the Brasserie. We sat on a table in front of the bar having a lovely family meal but could not help over hearing Fiona (the staff member) constantly talking poorly about other staff members. My wife asked Fiona for a Pimms and her attitude and customer service was absolutely disgusting and shocking. We will certainly not be returning or recommending.

I am sorry the opinion of a staff member regarding her colleagues was overheard. We treat matters like this very seriously.

The member of staff mentioned would like to apologise because her usual high standards of customer service were not evident during your recent stay.

She and everyone at the resort hope you are willing to change your mind and visit us again, when we hope to demonstrate to you both the level of customer service that we expect from all our staff.

We had a good time here despite our rooms being close to the function hall and having to suffer from a considerable lack of sleep as a result of the noise which went on at intolerable volumes from dusk till past midnight. The rooms felt rather dated, as other reviewers have rightly mentioned (walls peeling off, bathtub rusty, cheap toiletries and plastic drinking cups), but the staff were exceptionally helpful, friendly and professional when we reached out to them re:the noise, and we were even compensated for not being told about it in advance. Wi-fi connection decent in some rooms but best in the lobby. The location by the way was simply brilliant!
