“lovely hotel and staff”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 27 January 2014

This is my second time staying at this hotel, and it was just as good. Sitting in the restaurant gives you a superb view over the the beach. The rooms are modern and attractive. The spa is an added bonus on a rainy day with lovely relaxing treatments. The staff are friendly and made the stay so much more welcoming. A great stay at a lovely friendly hotel.

After staying at another hotel in st.ives last night, i bought my partner a massage here as it looked beautiful.. We arrived to an extremely stunning reception and friendly receptionist , we got a little lost trying to find the car park..so the receptionist took her car and let us follow her! (great first impression!) then we relaxed in the lounge, looking over the clifftop next to the fire..my partner went into his treatment and the lovely spa girls let me relax in the 'relaxation room' even though i had no treatment, the spa was gorgeous! As we had such a dissapointing stay last night, at another hotel, it was a breath of fresh air to go arrive here! we just wished we had stayed here. The spa girls were especially effortlessly friendly.

If you are thinking of going to St Ives, this is the place to stay! It is situated above the station with beautiful views of the bay. It was in easy walking distance of the main town, and when the tide is out you could walk for a long time along the beach, although when my husband and I went it was raining :(. The room was extremely comfortable, TV could have been bigger but who goes away to watchTV. The staff were very helpful, the only downside was that you had a long wait for breakfast., in fact we had nearly an hours wait, although there was the buffet table to nibble at LOL. It won't deter us we would definitely use it again, let's face it if your are on holiday time is not a problem, but maybe they could improve on the breakfast timings, other than that we would recommend this hotel.

Visited this hotel in January for a spa weekend and we were very impressed. Our package included 2 nights bed and breakfast plus evening meals, a 55minute spa treatment each and full use of the spa facilities. All of the staff were very friendly and helpful, room was lovely - very clean, modern and the bed was unbelievably comfortable! The restaurant was really nice and overlooked the Porthminster beach which was a lovely view in the morning whilst having breakfast. Food was really nice and staff were very attentive. Spa was perfect, all the facilities you need and a very relaxing atmosphere. We also both had a full body massage which i would definitely recommend to anyone considering a treatment. My only fault would be for the hotel parking to be a little clearer although once we realised it was directly opposite the hotel itself, all of the staff were really helpful and we even had the car parked for us and brought back to the hotel door when we left the hotel which was an added bonus! All in all a very enjoyable stay. Would definitely recommend this hotel and we will definitely return in the future.

We had a four-night break over Christmas and found it hard to fault anything. Firstly, the hotel has a stunning location which is hard to beat in St Ives, overlooking Porthminster beach and St Ives Bay. A sea view room is a must and ours had a balcony too which would be great in summer.
Our room was very comfortable, decorated in an understated, contemporary style and well-equipped (apart from a full-length mirror). The king-size bed and bathroom was particularly good.
The staff were universally excellent and friendly with it. The food was what you would expect from a hotel of this standard; the breakfasts were the highlight (get down reasonably earlier if you want a table in the window with a view over the beach and bay). The Cornish hamper full of goodies for Christmas guests was a nice touch. We'd be happy to return

Room Tip: A sea view room is a must

We have just had two nights at this lovely situated Hotel, did enjoy it , but felt quite disappointed too.
Our room (310) was really small, the en suite has a plumbing problem, the water took ages to drain away from both sink and badly dented bath, and we had a noisy pump which took ages to cut off too,you have to open and close the door to get to the toilet! Having said that, the towels were lovely and clean!
Although reasonably clean, we had to wipe off the t,v remote as it was really mucky!
A light was out in the side lamp, attention to detail needs attention!
Bearing in mind it was out of season, and the Hotel was very quiet, I would have thought we could have been put in a slightly better room? its not cheap, and we certainly don't expect something for nothing.
You may say why didn't we say something? The answer is we shouldn't have had to.
First impression's go along way! We thought wow! Super entrance, love the style , but the receptionist was a bit scary, very impersonable , not what front of house should be .
The food was good, and the restaurant and bar area are really lovely, views amazing, but! Evening meal luke warm! didn't make a fuss and it was replaced with a hot one, shouldn't have happened , low season,,all the restaurant staff were lovely,! Well done there.
We made the most of our break, but sadly wouldn't recommend it to our friends, there are plenty of fabulous places to stay in St Ives, and I would advise you to step up the mark if you want to make it special! cos it wasn't!

Room Tip: make sure you know which room you have!

We stayed 2 nights in this hotel. We were told we won't get a sea view bedroom (fully booked at the time).. But we still had one (room 204). The room was lovely, great attention to details and very comfortable. Parking wasn't explain in a proper way to my taste but the porter was extremely helpful: if you want to experience being lifted up (literately) with your car, give it a go!
Generally, I thought this hotel was very good, good service, superb location. I will recommend it to any friends!
