“Fantastic weekend!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 10 October 2010

Wow what a wounderful way to remenber my 50th birthday! Malcom and his staff made my 50th birthday extra special, a weekend I will never forget! The room was of a very high standard and had an amazing view, the food was lovely and the company excellant! The weekend was made complete by having our breckfast on the verandah. We would recommend Blue hayes with its high standards and relaxing atmosphere to anyone wishing to visit this part of Cornwall!

It is very relaxing and satisfying to find something that works perfectly and without fuss or fanfare - and Blue Hayes is just such a thing. This was our second visit, and sometimes it can be hard to repeat a flawless experience, but, if anything, it was even better this time around.

Malcom and his staff care passionately about the well being of their guests. An example: every breakfast Malcolm greets all the guests. I really felt that I'd been singled out because of his caring and involved approach. And then I noticed that he treated every other guest in just the same way. He makes you feel special because he cares.

I'm also impressed by his perfectionism - both in what he does do, and more unusually in his trade, for what he doesn't do, and the reason for it. For example: he doesn't have newspapers delivered because no-one is St Ives delivers them reliably. He doesn't want to confound anyone's expectations.

It goes without saying that all the furnishings are of the highest standard, and spotlessly clean. Breakfast is a wonderful experience. The tables are large and very sturdy, so you don't feel cramped. Perhaps a small point, but it's the details that best show the quality of this place. You can see that Malcolm has put himself in the guests' place and decided what would give the best experience.

There are some excellent hotels, but none that deliver the personal touch and luxury so successfully as Blue Hayes.

This was a return visit for us, this August, having so thoroughly enjoyed last years stay.
So we arrived full of expectation and we were not disappointed, though I knew we wouldn't be.
Malcolm, owns and manages this place with a quiet and unassuming (but extravagent) flourish. He is always there in the seemingly effortless attention to detail, (though I know the effortlessness must really be bloody hard work!!), and in the immaculate presentation of this place. It reminds me of a lovingly cherished big white pearl, apparently so naturally perched up there on the cliff, as though it just landed there, in its perfection. As though it just happened.
But as with any pearl, the skill and the beauty are in the layers. So beneath the shiny Pearl surface, there lies, meticulous attention to detail, immaculate presentation, spotlessness unrivalled in any hotel I have seen before, fantastic customer service, an easy charm, a tranquility, luxury, indulgence..... the list of layers goes on. And must without doubt include his adept choice of staff, all of whom were an example to us all.
We stayed in the Bay suite this time, but to be fair you could probably stay in the broom cupboard here and not be disappointed!
Malcolm really cares about this place, it is crafted and adored, he loves it and wants you to love it. The touch is personal and indulgent. Inspirational really. He has quite simply lovingly crafted a Pearl and then dipped it in his own personal glitter.

Fantastic place , fantastic people , and even more fantastic cocktails and breakfasts !!! My husband and I stayed for the weekend of our 15th wedding anniversary , and were greeted by the owner and he had placed a card in the room for us. We did teach him a new cocktail (JD Sour ) to add to the already huge list of cocktails available , just wish we could of stayed longer in order to try them all !! Great attention to detail - Molton Brown gels etc , most comfortable bed I have slept on in a hotel . I was hoping to keep this a little secret but looks like aeverybody on here has had the same unforgettable time as we did !! Well done Blue Hayes . Would I recommend ? Without a doubt !!

My husband and I stayed at the Blue Hayes on the final night of our holiday in Cornwall. We love St Ives and found Blue Hayes on TripAdvisor. Cannot recommend this hotel highly enough. We arrived on Saturday evening to be greeted at the door by Malcolm (owner) before we even got out of our vehicle.

The whole hotel is immaculate. Our suite was the Trelyon Suite - large comfy bed, huge terrace with sea views.

Breakfast was served to our terrace on Sunday morning - the breakfast menu is extensive and I don't think anyone would be disappointed with the choice.

We found all of the staff here very friendly and helpful - nothing was too much trouble.

The hotel is relatively small (in terms of number of rooms) although the overall building is like a tardis! You definitely get the personal service and touch you expect from a smaller hotel but with all the luxury and comfort of a larger hotel.

A perfect end to a holiday :-)

Delayed in writing this review because of commitments but as it has probably been the best hotel I have stayed in and I have stayed in many I felt it deserved a belated review. From start to finish everything was perfect, the owner is obviously very committed to providing the best for his guests. Staff wonderful, room wonderful, breakfasts amazing setting perfect, only problem could be if disabled as the walk down to the sea is rather steep. This is an owner who cares and it shows. We would love to go back again.

My Husband and I arrived at Blue Hayes on our Ruby Wedding Anniversary,we were shown to our suite, and already there for us,was a personalised card and champagne on ice!!
This was the start of a superb week at Blue Hayes,Malcolm, along with his wonderful staff, were so friendly, efficient, and nothing was too much trouble for them.
Our suite was cleaned immaculately ,and supplied with fresh towels, bathrobes, and toiletries daily.
We were very fortunate with the weather, which gave us a choice of having our meals either on the terrace or our own balcony,or in the dining room.
The hotel,is beautifully appointed, with cream and blue furnishings, which again is immaculate.
We will certainly be returning to Blue Hayes, and if anyone wants perfection,we would definitely recommend a visit.
We would also like to thank Malcolm for making our Anniversary and stay so memorable.
