The best Sunday carvery we have found for a very long time, being local we tend to try most of them but, this really stands above the rest. Will definately be going again. The staff and chef are most gracious, its clean friendly and very tasty.

Found the place on the internet and booked for a 5 night stay. on arrival was given a warm welcome and shown around restaurant and then shown room. on first sight the place impressed and i was not disappointed. room was clean and tidy we tea and coffee laid on and a small TV.
eat in on first night and as well a good choice of food, two very well kept real ales from Cornish brewery's, as well local cider. Over the stay was made very welcome and even included into the owners team for the Monday quiz night. the food was so good i actually ate the every night, something i don't generally do. the location is excellent as it just outside St Ives, but just a short 2 mile drive to the centre or the same to park and ride, and rail links to the rest of Cornwall. It certainly some where i would stay again.

Room Tip: all rooms are on third floor and have view of the country side

Having left the John Fowler caravan park down the road early, due to the nastiness of the place, we rocked up to the Lodge at Balnoon to ask for a room, and were helped by a lovely man who showed us to a nice room immediately. The room was very comfortable (nice bed, towels, countryside view) and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The lodge is slightly outside off town, which we liked, as it was in a more rural setting which was beautiful and peaceful. The wet room bathroom was a little small, but really, that is the only negative I have to make. Ate at the restaurant one evening, and had a lovely meal. Recommend this to people needing peace and quiet.

Stayed 27 - 28 Feb.Like a previous trip advisor guest we also wish we had been made awareof the two steep flights of stairs!!The facility described as a "wet room" leaves a lot to desired - a small "add on" which included the loo hardly qualifies as a wet room. The entrance doorway was less than shoulder width for an adult male and the hand basin was in the main bedroom with no towel rail facilities.Returning one evening to the guest car park we found it in total darkness - not the best time to make first acquaintance with the hotel cat !! Hearty breakfast with plenty of choice and the Italian chef very friendly.

Stayed at balnoon inn last night, the room was really nice, clean and decoration was good. Our meal last night was superb all fresh produce beautifully prepared and served. The staff and the chef were friendly and couldn't be more helpful. Breakfast this morning was a real feast, prepared fresh, with loads to eat and drink. We will be back a great place, well worth a visit

Reviewed 14 February 2013

I went here last Sunday on the 10th of feb and what a disappointment. I was very excited initially as my family have always raved about the Sunday carvery.
The first problem is the layout. There is no suitable waiting space in the restaurant, so if you are waiting for your table or a drink you are completely in the way of staff with dishes or people coming back with full plates from the carvery. Very very awkward. We were left waiting a long while for our reserved table to be cleared and the waitress to find us a chair- although she aborted the chair hunt to go back behind the bar.
The food itself was honestly the worst carvery I have had. All vegetables and meat were stone cold. . . . With the potatoes being the biggest let down- they appeared deep fried with a crispy outing but rock solid cold potato in the centre. Myself and my children love roasties, so for us to leave them they must have been bad! The chef was sweet about it and bought out more-,which were equally as bad. But the waiting staff were uninterested and did not even query how our meal was. I am local but will honestly not eat here again. Very disappointed.

We are so pleased that we found this gem. Set in great country-side just outside St. Ives, it offers a very friendly welcome. A nice modern bar/resturant serving good food, with flair. We had the Sunday Carvery, which was the best we have had. Wish we could have stayed longer.
