This is seriously the best bakery in st Ives - old fashioned place with the most amazing pasties! I can recommend the scones too - light and delicious

Ferrell's have been making pasties and other traditional Cornish baked goods in this shop for generations of the same family, and for good reason; they know what they are doing and they are extremely good at it. I've been a customer for over 40 years now, originally as a boy who lived around the corner and now as a visitor when I come back to the town three or four times a year. I have been around the world and there is nothing that compares to a Ferrell's pasty, nothing comes close. Their pasties are what the more high profile and highly marketed pasty shops elsewhere aspire to.

Ferrell's pasties come in one style, traditional. There are no curried, chorizo, cheese and onion or other weird varieties. Traditional, that's it, and they haven't changed in years. My grandmother and mother bought pasties, bread, heavy cake and saffron cake here before I did and I strongly recommend that you do the same. Ignore the flashy new pasty shops and buy the real thing from Ferrell's, they are simply magnificent. Sizing is generous, medium is a good meal, large is not for the faint hearted! Just beware the seagulls around the harbour who will be delighted to share your meal.

Also you need to try to other traditional Cornish fare from here: heavy cake and saffron cake (or buns).

The shop is the size of a postage stamp and you can get two people, or three at a pinch if they are slim, through the door at one time and you might have to wait outside for the 'queue' to subside! The interior is clean, simple and it hasn't changed for decades. This is a traditional Cornish baker, through and through.

Ferrell's is what my childhood was made of, don't leave St Ives without sampling something from here.
