We were really fortunate that Derek allowed us to bring our house cats with us - they made this THE perfect stay - we have been coming to St Ives for nearly twenty years, every Easter - and this was the first time we were able to bring them. Instead of worrying about how they were - they do pine no matter what arrangements we make - it was SO lovely to come home to them. The cottage feels like home - it is comfortable and welcoming. It had everything we needed and was SO close to the beach and the harbour - amazing location and yet very quiet.
We had fabulous meals out - our favourites being Porthminster Beach Cafe, The Black Rock, The Cornish Deli (twice!), The Rum and Crab Shack - we walked to Zennnor (saw a viper, a lizard, loads of seals and watched a hawk hunting over the cliffs for twenty minutes) and later in the week walked to Lelant and then got the train back (has to be the best train journey in the UK)
Thanks for a fabulous holiday.
This was our second stay in this lovely cottage. We particularly love the location as it is so close to the harbour beach and the local restaurants and pubs.
The cottage itself is clean, well equipped and even has Netflix for those rainy evenings when you just want to chill in the warm. The open plan lounge/ kitchen is a good size and was even large enough to accommodate our German Shepherds large dog crate, so he was happy too.
Derek (the owner) as previously, provided us with good local information prior to our visit which is very useful. I recommend buying the Rover car park ticket (£47 for 7 days) as you can use it in most long stay car parks. Parking wasn't a problem in March as we were able to park at the Island car park which is only a few minutes walk away. However, in high season that may not always be possible but there is a large car park on the top of the hill.
We visited the Eden Centre during our stay and travelled by train and bus. Took a couple of hours in all but if you have the time it is a nice journey. The combined train and bus ticket cost £13.00 each and you also got a 10% reduction on admission price at the Eden Project.
We will definitely be back to St Ives and hopefully stay again at this great pet friendly apartment. Thank you Derek.
Just arrived back from a great week in our favourite location. This property was perfect for our needs, clean, well equipped and close to everything central. Welcome pack awaiting consisting of coffee, tea, hot chocolate, milk along with a lovely cream tea (thanks, much appreciated) the property allows a dog, which are not allowed upstairs, made easy by the fitted stair gate, couldn't open the gate and the owner responded promptly when we contacted him. The Housekeeping lady Karina was charming in her texts, we text to ask if we could get in early, she was very welcoming. Definitely would stay again. Towels included, hairdryer, soap etc. Can't say enough about the place.
Charming cottage situated in a great location, close to all the restaurants, bars, shops, harbour and beaches but not so close as to be troubled by noise.
The owners were very helpful and easily contactable. The cottage itself has all mod cons (including a smart TV) but retains it's character. We parked in the nearby Island car pack and had no trouble finding spaces though I imagine this could be a problem in the summer. We would recommend this cottage and plan to stay again.
Sandals is located on Fish Street St Ives and is literally 30 seconds walk from the harbour, the Island Car Park is 2 minutes walk from the cottage as are both beaches, We enjoyed our stay here so much we have already booked for next year, the cottage has everything you will require and every need is catered for, we was there over Christmas and the place was lovely and warm and really cosy, a nice touch from our point of view was also having a T.V in the bedroom so you can lay in and watch T.V as we like to do, there aren't any negative points I can put about this place because there aren't any, the town is literally a few minutes walk away so it really is the perfect location, the owner has thought of everything and was in touch beforehand providing great details of things which might help you, can't wait to return to the lovely St Ives and in particular Sandals, Thanks Derek.
I can not speak highly enough of this cottage. It was very well equipped with some nice homely touches. You can literally roll out of bed, down the hill to the harbour front. We found it the perfect size for our family of 4. Although you don't go on holiday to watch TV, we went in December and it was very useful when the night began to draw in, TVs/internet set up was fantastic, the kids could always find something on Netflix. We will definitely be returning to stay and found Derek the owner very helpful and friendly.
My daughter and I stayed for a few days in October and had a fantastic time . I know St Ives fairly well and booked due to central location as once in St Ives and parked the last thing you want to do is have to use your car ....even in Oct it's busy in the little narrow streets and in season it's impossible . The added bonus is that the cottage was cosy comfortable and well equipped . Beds were super lush and loved the fact dogs were welcome. Every morning we took an early walk to the harbour with the dogs literally 5mins and on the last morning watched a fantastic sunset and seals playing around the fishing boats. Going out of season is fantastic as feel the locals have a bit more time for you it's easier to get around but beware some restaurants are closed ...Blas my most favourite so gutted . Go to St Ives and stay in footsteps you will love it
