“Better than expected”
Reviewed 15 May 2011

We have recently returned from St ives Holiday village following the £9:50 sun holidays deal. After reading other peoples reviews on here I was more than a little apprehensive about going, me and my partner decided to give it one night and if it was no good we would leave that is how apprehensive we were. Any way I am glad we did give it ago as I'm unable to see what people are complaining about. We stopped in one of the bungalows, yes it was dated and in need of a refirub. But It was clean and liveable, no smells of damp or signs of mould. As for people complaining about the lack of facilities there is a tesco about a 5 minute drive round the corner and plenty of restaurants and cafes dotted here and there. St ives is a beautiful place and the holiday village is the perfect place to make a base. I can comment on the entertainment of bar facilities as neither me or my partner are into that sort of thing, but from out fleeting visit into it, it looked about average for an English holiday village. I would not be happy to pay full peak price, but for a budget sun holiday one cannot complain. Would return again next year.

Couldn't book in until 4pm, then discovered that our" upgraded" cabin was pretty well tiny and quite a disappointment. Clean though. Positive was the flat screen tv with a dvd player, so daughter was happy. The pool has definately seen better days, changing rooms aren't clearly labelled, basically the women's was an empty room with 2x toilets and some shower cubicles. - no lockers! not what you would expect these days. i would however recommend the food onsite. Pretty good.
Some slot machines - basically and that's that !
No childrens entertainment through the day - only an odd hour in the evening- better than nothing!
Cost-wise- good as from a Sun special - but would definately upgrade, and then still not that happy, Will definately stay elsewhere next time. - Perhaps the Haven site up the road

We have visited St Ives many times. If you could guarantee the weather then there is no better place on earth. Unfortunately, we stumbled upon hell also know as St Ives holiday village (apologies I'm sure hell has some redeeming features)

Potential to be an excellent site but clearly not a penny spent in umpteen years. We are not prudish but we do have standards and will never visit the Village of the damned again.

After a long journey we arrived at the holiday park in St Ives and were given the key to our accommodation, as soon as we opened the door you could smell damp, the bungalow was tiny, cold and smelly. There was a small kitchen with an electric oven which set the fire alarm off every time you used it because of a build of grease. The beds were made up for you but felt damp when you got in them and were very uncomfortable. The bathroom was awful, dirty and cramped and considering the bath was tiny you were lucky to get a full bath of hot water. The TV did not work properly.
