Have just returned from a wonderful family break here and can't state enough how great this place really is! We stayed in a Silver chalet, set in beautiful woodlands, very spacious, NO MOULD etc, immaculately clean inside and out and toasty warm when we arrived as they had put the heating on ready for our arrival! Even though we were quite close to the clubhouse, it was quiet and peaceful at night! Every morning and evening we were greeted by the sight of rabbits playing outside our chalet and squirrels running up and down the trees outside! Simply fantastic for the kids to see! As for the entertainment, it was 1st class! They made our children (even our 15 month old baby) so welcome at kids club and remembered them all by name which made them feel very special! The games they played were great fun and enjoyed by kids and adults alike! Even though the park was quiet, they still bought out the characters every evening (much to the delight of my kids!). The pool was lovely & clean, really warm and the lifeguards very helpful. All the staff were really cheerful from the manager to the cleaners, nothing was too much trouble and we were all made to feel very welcome! We ordered bar meals for the kids and our eldest told us they were the "best chicken nuggets ever"! lol!! We will DEFINITELY be returning... and in fact, none of us can wait for our next stay! Please don't let the bad reviews put you off... if you do you will miss out on a great family holiday, set in beautiful peaceful woodland, with a team of people that will go out of their way to make your stay memorable!

We booked through the Sun newspaper voucher deals & were put into one of the budget lodges. According to the brochure these are due for refurbishment, which was definitely true! However, they were clean inside & had everything we needed.

The beds were made up for us on arrival - despite us not having paid for this as an extra - which was a bonus. We had bought the entertainments passes, which I'm not sure that we actually needed as we physically didn't receive any & other members of our group didn't buy them and had no difficulty using all of the facilities.

The swimming pool & changing rooms (no cubicles) were the most basic that I've seen since I went swimming with the school - however, they did have a slide & the kids had a great time.

The Stripeys worked really hard to keep the children entertained during the evenings and the children thoroughly enjoyed themselves.

The site is a brilliant base to explore Cornwall. Just a short drive into St Ives - where I'd really recommend the Harbour Fish & Chip restaurant.

We would definitely consider staying here again.

We stayed here for a short break in September 2011. It was part of The Sun holiday deal, and although worth the £40 price, I would never stay here again.

The staff were very polite at reception, offering information on their evening entertainment and food/drink opening times. I understand there is onsite entertainment each night, with bands/comedians and magicians etc. We didn’t view any of these, nor did we purchase any food/drink from the shop/cafe.

From the outside the brick chalets look fantastic, but once inside you realise they are dated, cold and damp. They are in desperate need of modernisation, and the heating (which is one single portable electric heater) is terrible.

The bathroom had mould in, and the shower had less power than my non-electric toothbrush. The rooms were freezing cold, and we used a spare duvet cover to hang over the curtains to block the draft.

Fortunately we only stayed here for easy access to St Ives, so we literally used this for a bed, and spent the entire day/evenings in St Ives itself.

If the chalets were updated and modernised, they could be perfect, as the location in the woods is fantastic.

It was such a shame to read your remarks regarding your stay at our holiday park when most reviews paint a totally different picture. We are looking into your concerns in order that improvements may be made in the interest of future guests.

Meanwhile, so that the issues can be investigated, I will be contacting you with a view to restoring your faith in John Fowler Holidays.

I am completely confused by the negative reviews on this website. I stayed at the park from the 30th April-4th May and could not be more impressed. My boyfriend and I stayed in the budget accommodation, and whilst it was basic, it was spotlessly clean and contained all the amenities that we required. We booked the place as it was the cheapest that we could find and was in an ideal location to explore Cornwall- Lands End, Penzance, St Michael's Mount and Perranporth are all within reasonable distance, and there are beautiful beaches very close. We ended up going to the clubhouse every night and found the entertainment and music a good way to relax at the end of the day. All the staff were cheerful, friendly and helpful.

If you are looking for a cheap base to explore Cornwall, and are not the type of people who want to stay in all day, then I cannot recommend this place highly enough. My boyfriend and I are planning to book up again in September.

We stayed here the second week of the Easter holidays and really enjoyed it. The chalets could do with updating but they were spacious and clean with good facilities, full size hob, oven microwave etc. The Bathroom is awful though, we thought we were getting a power shower but out of the week I think I only had one hot shower that came out as a trickle!! Funny as the water that comes out of the taps is boiling!!

The beds were made up for us on arrival at no extra cost which was a nice touch, other big holiday camp companies take note!!

Looking around the camp at the other lodges/chalets that are more expensive, they looked nice but we can only stay in basic as we take our dog with us.

As for the site itself, yes there was some rubbish on the site, large furniture old sofas etc but we just walked past it and it didn't bother us. We don't go away to stop and stare at the rubbish, and it wasn't unsafe at all.

The only thing I didn't like was that some of the street lights around the camp are broken and because you are in the middle of the woods its very dark in places therefore I did feel a bit uncomfortable and unsafe at times especially when taking the dog for a walk late at night.

The swimming pool is great and well maintained with very good and observant lifeguards. The arcade (if you can call it that) is rubbish. Most of the games don't work. As for the bar/club the entertainment is your usual fayre, bingo, singers, comedians etc. But I must say that the Stripeys are FANTASTIC with the kids!! They manage to keep them engaged and entertained all night and they work so hard!!

As for a base the park is central for most things. St Ives 10mins, Hayle 10mins, Newquay 30mins, Lands End 40mins.

All in all we had a fabulous time for our first ever holiday in Cornwall and can't wait to go back next year!!

Our 1st time at this particular JF holiday park & I wont lie it could do with some updating, few coats of paints & some modern furniture & a tv bigger than 14''.But location was lovely as was chalets.

But that said we are more than happy with the accommodation we had 2 bed chalet for 3 people. I have now found to have a more spacious accomodation book a bigger one than you need. Will Definatly book again
As a 'base holiday' we couldnt have asked for better & I NEVER upgrade, always take the cheapest budget option purely because we only use it as a base & use NO ammenities.
We are the get up,eat breaky & get out by 10am kind of people & not return untill 9-10pm at night, then just eat, shower & bed ready for next day's exploring.

Have NEVER used facilities at any camp even when our kids were small, because we took ours out to see their surrounding area,so cannot offer a comment on that.

It is what it is a base for you to lay your head at the end of a brillliant day exploring The Lizard,St.Michaels Mount is a must,Lands end,St Ives & Hayle nature reserve/National Trust etc etc..A holiday is individual to the person,so it will be what you make it.
Cant grumble for the cost, especialy if you booked via sun holiday tokens & got it even cheaper
