“Anniversary Delight”

Just had a weekend break in St. Ives and stayed at The Anchorage. For those of you that know St. Ives, The Anchorage is located just behind The Sloop in the harbour. So it's close enough to be near all the pubs and restaurants without having to drive or grab a cab.
It's a small place, only has 4 rooms. But the one we stayed in was immaculate. Chris (the owner) keeps them beautifully and his breakfasts (using local ingredients) are stunning.
If you are thinking of staying in St. Ives look no further.
YOU WILL NOT BE DISAPPOINTED

Room Tip: Go for the ground floor room. Access direct from the street.

This charming B&B is post card pretty form the outside and charming on the inside with lots of beams. Anyone (like us) over 5 feet 9ins does need to concentrate on not banging their heads, but to be honest if you have a problem with that you'd best book into a boring large hotel. We were in a room right at the top of the house (the attic) - you have to get up a flight of very steep stairs - but the views from the room make it a worthwhile venture. Rooms are decorated very nicely - no chintz in sight.
Breakfast is very good with plent of choice and Chris is helpful and attentive.
The mega bonus of this b&b is its location. It is right in the centre of St Ives with all facilities and the sea literally on your doorstep. St Ives is always a joy to visit and this great little b & b an ideal base.

Room Tip: The attic room is great if you want a view.

This was our first time at the anchorage and we were not dissapointed, Chris our host was friendly helpful informative and his breakfast to die for.The location of the anchorage is excellent right in the middle of St Ives, you step out of the door and you are there. We were in room 2 which is a large room with an ensuite bath/shower and fridge, it has its own front door on to the street so you are not disturbing anyone whatever time you come and go. We stayed for a week at the beginning of september and thoroughly enjoyed our holiday.St Ives is a lovely place to unwind and there is plenty to see and do this has been enhanced with our stay at the anchorage. We have already pre-booked for next year.

Room Tip: Room 2 is street level and self contained with access to the street via its own front door, it has a...

Wow! what a find..we stayed here june 2012....I have stayed in St Ives many before at other hotels this is the first time I could have stayed longer in the accomodation this B & B has to be the best...I love this place..the host Chris is wonderful...his love for his B & B show in his attention not only to detail and cleanliness but his food also...the breakfasts are superbly prepared and delicious a wonderful choice nothing is a problem...it is situated just around the corner from the wonderful little harbour.. in a wonderful cobbled street..and in summer boasts its wonderful flower displays and must be one of the most photographed streets in St Ives...Chris deserves to be acknowledged from St Ives for being such a wonderful host at running B & B he is indeed a credit to his work so much so we will be returning ASP to St Ives for longer! thank you Chris x

Room Tip: Our room was situated at the very top of the B & B it showed wonderful views of the harbour.

I stayed at the Anchorage over the Jubilee weekend because my usual choice in St Ives, Westcliff, was fully booked. I wasn't sure what to expect because the building looks ancient and pretty tiny, but my room (Room 3) was exceptionally large for an English B&B, with comfortable modern furnishings and loads of storage space. The bathroom was equally roomy with stylish modern fittings. The central location is very convenient, only steps to the harbour and an easy trot along the Digey to Porthmeor. I thought being in the town centre might be noisy at night but by 10pm it was quiet, even though it was a holiday weekend. Breakfast was very good with a wide choice of options, and the free Wifi worked very well. I'd be very happy to stay at the Anchorage again. Some tips: As you'd expect in such an old building, the steps outside and the stairs inside are quite steep and narrow, which might be difficult for less mobile travellers, though there is a room on the ground floor with its own entrance which has easier access. If you're travelling by car, as always in St Ives, parking may be difficult. I arrived by train and it was easy to walk to the Anchorage from the station.
