“A Haven by the Sea”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 13 April 2014

Headland House is stunning. The house itself oozes style and character and lives up to its status as a boutique hotel.
My husband and I have recently stayed at Headland and could not fault it in any way. On arrival there was complimentary homemade cake, tea and coffee and a welcome that was detailed but not overbearing. Our room was lovely with a perfect sea view, spotlessly clean with all essentials available even down to hot water bottles in the wardrobe if the sea air turns nippy.
The breakfast was amazing, every possible taste available, the presentation was amazing, service was prompt but again not overbearing. Individual glass pots of home presented yoghurt with passion fruit, lavender syrup, rose petals etc.. waffles with crème fresh, fresh fruit compote and local honey are divine to start your day or a full hardy full English.
The décor is perfectly tasteful and Fenella has an eye for detail and attention, really have found our perfect get away haven and will stay here always.
The local Carbis Bay train is a two minute walk in front of the hotel and goes into St Ives on the hour for a return ticket costing just £2. This save s driving, parking and parking fees especially at peak times when parking can be congested. Be warned though that the train returning back to Carbis Bay only stops for trains departing St Ives at half past the hour, we were caught out on this the first night, but taxi's are readily available and friendly and cost around £7 from St Ives.
Fenella suggested visiting Fowey and even though this is approx.] a good 50 mins drive it is well worth it, very pretty, cute shops, including lovely places to eat. The Dwelling House Crab sandwich and herbal teas are amazing, well worth a visit.
I would highly recommend Headland.

Room Tip: All rooms look stunning on line. We chose a sea view and this was stunning. I would try and stay in...

My partner and I headed to St. Ives for the week for a relaxing break from London. We had read some great reviews of Headland House and wanted somewhere to escape city life.

We were not at all disappointed when we arrived. The whole house is decorated beautifully and our room was extremely comfortable. The house is a short walk from Carbis Bay station, which was handy for heading into St. Ives. We also walked from the house to St. Ives, which gave us great views of the bay.

Mark and Fenella are a lovely couple, who were so accommodating and made us feel at home. We particularly enjoyed the 'honesty bar' and free cake!

Room Tip: We had a room at the front of the house, which has the most incredible view of the bay. So amazing t...

This is our third visit to Headland House, we love it! Mark and Fenella are perfect hosts, great attention to detail in everything to make our stay memorable. Little touches like the cake mentioned by many, chocolates and flowers are all lovely. Plan on light lunches and enjoy the breakfast! So much useful information on where to go, what to see, where to eat, how to get there and so on. The walk along the coast to St Ives is refreshing, or catch the train, that's fun... or just walk down to the beach and dodge the waves. A great place to see Cornwall or just relax.

Room Tip: Rooms at the front of the hotel have sea views to St Ives. Throwing the curtains open in the morning...

Had a really great stay at Headland House. Mark and Fenella have done a great job with the decor and have thought of everything you'll ever need. Particularly like the complimentary cake each afternoon!

It's great that the house is on the outskirts of St Ives as it allows you to get away from the masses during the busy times but that it's still really easy to catch the train or walk in to town.

Definitely worth chatting to Mark about restaurant recommendations as he suggested a place (Alfresco) which turned out to be by far the best restaurant we ate at during the whole trip.

Definitely would stay here again.

My partner and I stayed at Headland House Hotel recently, and our stay was influenced by the great reviews previously posted. We certainly were not disappointed. On arrival we were met by Mark who could not have been any more friendly, helpful or personable. We were shown to our room, Cape Cornwall, which was very big and exquisitely furnished. It is unusual to have a room with a stand alone bath and a great separate shower. The room receives lots of natural light, but only has limited views out. Once we were settled, we helped ourselves to some of the Hotel's very yummy complimentary carrot cake and coffee. The Hotel has great ambience and is marvellously furnished. You feel like you are at home. The breakfast which is a joint effort, between Mark, Fenella and Kylie was absolutely delicious. We received plenty of useful advice and information from Mark and Fenella on where to visit, eat etc, in the Carbis Bay and St Ives area. What else can I say,but a big thank you to Mark, Fenella and Kylie for a wonderful, enjoyable and relaxing stay.

We loved the Headland House. There are little touches everywhere that make this a really special place to stay - attention to detail is amazing. The hosts are wonderful too, informative & lovely. The breakfasts were delicious & a great selection using local produce. We will recommend the HH to our friends & will be back.

This was our second visit to this amazing hotel. Different room this time round with an equally fabulous sea view to wake up to. The beds are so comfortable that you are torn between getting some extra rest and getting out to enjoy the wonderful scenery. The nearest beach is just a 5 minute walk away and the scenery is simply stunning - you would think you were in the Caribbean on a sunny day. Mark and Fenella are just the best hosts ever - nothing is too much trouble and Mark's breakfasts are legendary. You can indulge completely in the knowledge that the walk into St Ives will at least lose a few calories (unless you stroll as we did!). Mark and Fenella recommended some new restaurants for us to try and the food was fantastic. When you go, make sure you ask for their recommendations as they know about all the hidden gems. You almost want to keep this hotel your secret, but it is too good not to share for others to enjoy the experience.

Room Tip: Ask for a sea view, although if you don't have a sea view, the other rooms are equally stunning.
