This is a nice b&b in St Ives. The breakfasts are wonderful and are by far the best thing about the b&b. There's a lovely choice of fresh fruit, yogurts, cereals, full cooked breakfasts, croissants, toast and the staff will cook what you want. The sausages are a little heavy, but we just didn't have them again!
We stayed in room 5 which was pleasant, light and airy, but it's the little things that let it down for £100 a night. Things such as the bathroom - the door didn't shut without forcing it, the toilet seat was cracked all the way through (painful when you get up!!), the electric shower depended upon other guests in their room not being in the bathroom at the same time (with a one hour breakfast slot, that's quite likely they will be) otherwise the water varies from freezing to very hot. Also, you can hear next door slamming their shower door a lot.
The bed was firm, but comfortable and large and storage was good - a large cabinet and wardrobe. There is an issue with electric sockets - they are either in the wrong place, or there aren't enough of them.
Check in and out was easy, however, the car park is tiny. car parking is available at a rate of £2 per night (not sure why guests have to pay?!) and there are just enough spaces. Whilst we were there, there were two Range Rovers and a large Volvo 4x4 in the car park which meant that as we had the smallest car there (a medium sized family car), we had to squeeze it up against a bush and it was in the most narrow section of the car park risking it being scuffed by the oversized cars. The car was filthy by the end of the stay and we were disturbed twice during our 4 night stay to move it to the end. Although they asked in a polite way, it should be made clear on the webpage that the car park is not fit for purpose for a number of larger vehicles.
The location is a little out of the way, the hill is very steep to porthmeor, but only takes a couple of minutes if you're relatively fit. There is a bus service from outside the Tate for £1 per adult which takes you up the hill, and a taxi costs £3-4 from the centre (there's a taxi rank next to the cinema). Keep your eyes open for a turquoise sign from the main road, or the sat nav will take you down a narrow street to someone else's house!
