I have recently returned from a 3 night stay at Channing's and I cannot rate it highly enough. From the moment I pulled up in the car park Marcus was there to help me with my case (I was travelling alone), Susan was waiting in the hallway as we entered the building with a warm welcome and showed me up to my room. The room was really well refurbished and cosy. It was very clean, nice big windows with plenty of light. Superb views over the sea. Each day refreshments were replenished. Breakfast was so tasty and not dripping in oil from being fried, it was all baked or grilled and plenty of it. A good selection from continental and fresh fruit to a good full English. Susan made the effort to talk to me every morning which was warming as I was on my own. You can come and go as you pleased with a key to the front door. They are doing a great job of refurbishing the bedrooms and over the next couple of years will look amazing. I really can't wait to return with my fiancé and show him the fantastic establishment I experienced. Thank you Susan and Marcus. X

Greeted with a lovely smile, Susan was a courteous host and made us feel welcome.
With our own set of keys we were free to come and go as we please. The rooms are newly renovated and cosy, spacious and clean. The beds are really comfortable and were serviced daily.
breakfast was hearty and good and I would not hesitate to recommend this B and B to my friends.
Its a short walk to the town and the views from our room were fantastic.
Thanks Susan

Susan and Marcus made our four night stay in April very comfortable. Channings is in walking distance to the great beaches and St. Ives town and the on-site parking is a real bonus. Our room was quiet, spotless and had recently been re-decorated. The decor has been tastefully thought out and the beds clean and comfortable. Team Susan and Marcus made us and our children feel very relaxed and nothing was a problem. The views and breakfasts were stunning. Thank you and can't wait to see you soon. Alan and Julia.

Not just a B&B this is Channings B&B. With very welcoming hosts Susan & Marcus, Your own keys to come and go as you like. Renovated rooms. Private on site parking, Only a short walk to town and the harbour with its myriad of Restaurants. It was everything we had hoped for.

Room Tip: We paid a little extra for a front room with a great view.

We stayed for 5 nights in September.

Susan and Marcus have done a fantastic job so far renovating Channings. I am sure they will do a great job finishing the renovation over the winter months. The Front lounge and breakfast room is very light and airy, even on a rainy day and very tastefully decorated. There is also a second cosy lounge at the back with TV, fridge and games.

Susan and Marcus and their staff are very welcoming and have plenty of suggestions for things to see and do locally and further afield. Lots of information is available in the lobby area. Nothing is too much trouble.

Breakfast was top quality with plenty of choice, the full English was very yummy.

The hotel is conveniently located within easy walking distance of all that St Ives has to offer, but on a quiet street. The railway station is only 5 min walk away. Channings has free parking at the back of the hotel which is a bonus in St Ives as parking spaces are in demand.

Our room was right at the top of the hotel with fantastic views of the sea and St Ives. We made friends with seagulls sitting on the window sill.

This hotel is presently graded as number 4 in St Ives. I have no doubt that it will be number one next year when all the renovations have been completed. Watch this space....

The couple who owns and runs Channings are great - charming and helpful, making guests feel welcome. When I stayed there (August 2013) they had renovated the breakfast room beautifully and renovation of the guest rooms was underway. From the website now it looks like they are on their way to something great.
I will admit that the room I stayed in wasn't great, but it hadn't been renovated yet. And if they accomplish the same charm as they had in the breakfast room in the rest of the house, it is likely to be five stars next time I come to stay. The breakfast was wonderful and the general feel of the place was really nice.
The hotel is located a short walk away from the hustle and bustle of St Ives. Especially in high season that was pretty nice, although you should be prepared for steps/hills to get to and from the center of the village. The house in itself also has narrow steps, which may be good to know.
There are plenty of restaurants within walking distance but no night life next door. The hotel is also set away from the main road so the only noice you may be bothered by will be coming from the seagulls...

Room Tip: The lower score for the rooms should be gone by the time renovations are done. Rooms facing the fron...

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay with Susan and Marcus and family, and will certainly recommend
Channings to our friends. A stunning view from the Bedroom with armchairs in bay window. A fine cooked breakfast with lovely fresh home made fruit salad coupled with a friendly chat with Susan about our coastal footpath walk and her plans for their very comfortable accommodation. Very useful off road car parking as well. We shall return.Jon and Kath
