“Beautiful and peaceful”

Had a wander around this lovely cemetery on a breezy October morning. Bracing but beautiful views across the sea. Well worth a visit and great photo opportunities.

After a day walking the crowded streets of St Ives this is a wonderful place to contemplate life, death and the Universe.

“Wet and windy but worth it!”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 24 September 2013

Barnoon cemetery is located on the exposed side of a very steep hill overlooking Porthmeor beach. It is a well maintained fascinating place but can be difficult to walk around as the ground can be quite uneven with a lot of thick grass. Unless you are visiting graves, I would stick to the paths. There are a few benches to sit and admire the views but no shelter should the weather turn. There is a large car park nearby.

“A lovely wander”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 13 September 2013

Barnoon Cemetery has a lovely setting over Porthmeor Beach and makes for a lovely wander and reminder that St.Ives is home to "real" people, not just visitors. Reading the headstones in this well-tended graveyard is reading the history of St.Ives and is especially poignant after a visit to the St.Ives Museum.

The paths and steps are very steep and some visitors may need a hand or a reminder to take it slowly. Not a good place to take a buggy.

Large cemetary on the side of the hill with plenty of chance to look out to sea or walk round and gain a sense of some of the history of st Ives
