“Beautiful views”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 15 June 2014

A good walk across St Ives is the Barnoon Cemetary. I happen to like cemeteries they are peaceful places and this one is no exception with grave stones looking out to sea from the hill side to the sound of the waves rushing to the shore on Porthmeor beach. Amongst the the graves stones dating back some 100 years plus is the grave of Alfred Wallis who was a local artist who died in 1942. His grave stone is beautifully decorated with tiles made by Bernard Leach. Well worth the visit on the day we went it was our goal to find the grave which we did.

“Tomb with a view”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 7 June 2014

Lovely place if you like an amazing view with your grave trawling. Porthmeor beach provides the gorgeous backdrop to this last resting place. Ok I'm being silly but there actually is a special atmosphere here and it's worth a look. Alfred Wallis the painter has an especially interesting grave here if you can be bothered finding it.

“Cold”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 17 April 2014

Great place for deep contemplation. This is where I came to the realization that James Bond is a code name instead of an actual person, which explains why there are numerous Bonds throughout the last 20 years. Turns out this is already an existing theory and I was too late to the party.

With that said, Barnoon Cemetery is a beautifully peaceful location with a wonderful view. However, I would not recommend staying for longer than an hour. It gets cold.

“A cemetery with a view”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 10 January 2014

This is a wonderful place. It's worth spending time reading the gravestones, the tributes to loved ones are fascinating. I'm not flagging any in particular as it is best to discover them for yourself and the place is packed with aspects of local lives, rewarding to discover.
