“Excellent place to eat!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 18 August 2012

My husband and I booked a table here for a meal out during our holiday in Carbis Bay. We asked for a window table, and this is what we got, a lovely table overlooking the beach. The staff were incredibly friendly and attentive, without being intrusive and the food was delicious and very reasonably priced for the high standard. We had 3 courses each and a bottle of wine and it came to around £80. We didn't feel rushed in the slightest, had time to enjoy each course and were among the last to leave but weren't made to feel like we needed to. Would highly recommend this restaurant for a lovely evening meal out.

“Feels like coming home - reliable top quality dining”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 16 August 2012

This is our fourth year visiting St Ives and we make bookings here as soon as we can for lunch and dinner and adore this place. Inventive, inspirational cooking - amazing quality but not astronomic prices. We have never had poor service or unsatisfactory food here - even their fish and chips is an experience! Loved the new peach melba dessert (very witty peach 'bagel'!) - thank you for keeping the deconstructed Pimms dessert on the menu, but my husband misses the banana dessert... My 'last meal' will have to be the Porthminster's lobster - an exemplary lesson in how to treat this fabulous seafood! Children are very well-cared for and rise to the occasion - the children's beetroot and halloumi salad went down very well, but some of the starters (especially the squid with citrus and ponzu - deeelish) also might suit adventurous children - plus there is boring pasta and parmesan for less adventurous ones. Lovely wine list - from £18 upwards with some great dessert wines available by the glass - cheeseboard is superb (ask for more crackers as there's a generous helping of cheeses). The head waitress is an object lesson in warmth, experience, knowledge and professionalism (but everyone is super) and the whole place works like clockwork. Do try the take away downstairs if you're on the beach and the new beach bar b q and decking area is a must - delicious burgers or fresh griddled fish and salad prepared and cooked by the restaurant's chefs for under a fiver - amazing value! Exciting and totally satisfying food in a lovely space - visit their cliff-top veg garden too. we miss you already - see you next year....

Fantastic views, amazing service and awesome food. What more is there to say?

(it was voted as one of the best 50 eating experiences in the world by the Observer last year.
Quite right too)

“Very romantic atmosphere on the beach and excellent see food dishes.”

Really good see food restaurant with fresh fish excellently cooked for dishes with asian influences. Amazing location on the main beach of St. Ives with a beautiful view. It is really worthwhile having there a lunch or dinner.
