We visited here several times during our week in Cornwall, lunch, dinner and coffee. All were very good but I need to give the coffee a special mention as I (from Australia) have been struggling with some of the British coffee. Here was really good. The staff were also extremely friendly and helpful.

Stayed here as we were going to a wedding locally, but we know Cornwall well. This is a really good hotel, nice decor, stunning "shabby chic" beach house style upstairs restaurant with lovely food. They had a band in the downstairs bar but it didn't disturb us at all. Bumped into the owner (who also own the Idle Rocks) who was just delightful. Highly recommended for a great stay.

Great location & lovely views, we ate on the upstairs balcony, (watch out for the vicious seagulls!) delicious food, we had the fishcakes, chowder and moules. Good service, they were trying hard to please. Highly recommend.

My girlfriend and I came here last Tuesday around 7:30pm. Upon arrival it was clear that the restaurant was half empty with tables unmade which gave us the impression the restaurant would have a table for 2. We walked up to the bar and asked for a table, but to our astonishment they said there were no tables available. We then asked if there would be any tables available later in the evening, but to our surprise they yet again said no. So we decided to go to The Watchhouse instead. However, as we were walking there we decided to have a look online to see if we could book a table through the St Mawes hotel website and we saw there were tables available at 8pm. I cannot comprehend why the staff told us there were no tables when quite clearly there were. Being a resident on Castle drive and a frequent diner in St Mawes restaurants including St Mawes hotel, I am very unhappy with the cold service we were met with and I request some sort of explanation.

The hotel has an upstairs too, and the views are spectacular from the balcony. The food was fresh and tasty, and served quickly. I had the cauliflower soup, which was served with crusty bread, very nice.
