“Fishy fishy fishy come and cook on my BBQ”

Fish & Trips of St Mawes
Reviewed 22 August 2013

Dad and two girls aged 10 and 11 spent a couple of fantastic hours on board with Capt James. We and another family caught over a dozen Mackerel and half a dozen large Sardines. This was the girls first fishing experience and loved hooking and landing their own fish, expertly unhooked by James. We caught more than enough for tea and took 3 Mackerel and 3 Sardines! We bought a granary loaf from the Bakery on the harbour. The BBQ was fired up and fish expertly cooked by Dad. WOW! you cannot beat the taste of fish that were landed that afternoon and cooked within hours of landing. This is a must do trip if you are anywhere near St Mawes..

Would recommend this to anyone, great family fun, was pretty rough when we went out but still managed to catch quite a few. Definitely worth the money for an excellent day out.

lovely village with great places to eat and a sweet harbour to paddle or swim in or even take out a kayak.

We had a fantastic trip with James last week. My 7 year old son and I went for the two-hour trip, and due to recent storms we stayed at the mouth of the estuary and a little way up the river. After a few blanks, we found some good spots thanks to James's expertise, and all of us managed to catch some mackerel. My son had a fantastic time (as did I), and every time his line went into the water he knew he'd caught something (if only...!). Between us and the other family on the boat we managed to catch about 25 mackerel, and took them home to barbecue (stuffed with rosemary and garlic) for the remainder of our family - they were delicious. I'd thoroughly recommend Fish & Trips to anyone wanting to do some sea fishing - we had absolutely no experience and had a really great time. Thanks again to James for being such a great captain and guide.

We all went out as 2 families and caught more fish than we've ever done before mostly Pollock. As an extra bonus we had some Dolphins follow us which was brilliant to see. James even took us to his Lobster pots on the way back. The kids loved it and we will be back again next holiday.
