We both had a wonderful 2 night stay at the hotel. The staff were all very friendly and had time to chat with the guests. The restaurant served excellent food and a very good wine selection. The room we had 24 looked out to the sea and had it's own balcony. The gardens are very well maintained and cleanliness was faultless.

Room Tip: all rooms can be viewed on the website by putting in the room numbers. There were pictures of all ro...

What a great overall spot! This was not a Relais & Chateau recommendation but we found this gem through Andrew Harper. This hotel is so beautifully decorated and well done! The staff, was amazing! The spa treatments were great and the restaurant was phenomenal. The food was delicious, the views are second to none from the restaurant and the service was great. I must say every one of their employees, mostly young and international, all had the same eagerness to please and make it a great experience. It is a well oiled machine. I am sure much of the credit goes to Frederica (the general manager) who was everywhere! What a pro! They are very lucky to have her there! We ended up having two dinners out of 4 in the room and it was such a great experience. Nothing was lacking and the ambiance from our balcony overlooking the ocean could not have been better. If you have not been to Cornwall, this place is worth coming to! The room was spacious, the bathroom was updated and the balcony was great. They only drawback is the restaurant was above us and on occasion guests would hang over the balcony to see the ocean view and peer into our space.....

Room Tip: All the rooms we saw were great but I would recommend our room because it had the only balcony. It...

We were holidaying in Cornwall and on the day of our 25th Wedding Anniversary went to St Mawes. On spec we called in at the Tresanton for Lunch and we throughly enjoyed it. We had the lunchtime set menu which we thought was quite good value (£22) taking in to consideration the quality and position of the hotel etc. Posh Fish, Chips and Peas and then a lovely light Orange and Almond Cake with Clotted Cream Ice Cream and a glass of well chilled White (sorry can't remember what we had), but it was good. The staff were very nice. Noticed they coped very well on a very hot sunny day as everyone wanted to sit on the balcony, first they would set one table up with an Umbrella and they were happy, then someone else would come out and complain that there table was in the shade, then another table wanted two umbrellas, this went on and on and the staff were very discreet trying not to get in our way. From the balcony on such a wonderful day, the view is stunning. Would definately go again if we were in the area.

This has to be the most comfortable hotel in the world! The rooms are great; the beds divine, the linen blissful and the service superb. Stayed in the three room family suite, and the bunk beds were a little snug for grown-up children (in fact 6ft 2ins son definitely did not fit!), but it was such a special room and we loved it.

Hotel Tresanton commands good views of St Mawes harbour and bay but beware that there are two rooms that have no sea view. The layout on the waterside slope would be difficult for those of less agile mobility and there are no lifts.

The most praiseworthy comment to make about this hotel is the very high quality of all staff members. Everyone is welcoming, friendly, eager to help and keen to deliver. Many have worked here for a long time indicating that they must be happy in this situation!

We ate dinner here on three consecutive nights. I was slightly disappointed to find both plaice and bream overcooked and some vegetables remaining crunchily undercooked. However, a half lobster was succulent and puddings were fabulous!

The room we first were allocated (31)had no sea view albeit a very pretty garden. Luckily, they were able to offer an alternative (33 on the top floor) which was a one-bedroom suite occupying the entire floor with a large sitting room and extensive balconies. It was very well appointed, extremely clean and pleasantly furnished. The bathroom was spacious and well designed.

Room Tip: You will need to be fit to cope with the slopes and stairs. Not all rooms have sea views and this i...

We stayed 1 night at Le Tresanton and were so lucky to be upgraded to room 32 a fabulous new 2 bedroom suite in their most recent addition to the hotel. It was fantastic, so beautifully designed and peaceful with lovely views over the harbour. We dined in the restaurant which was also very good and were made to feel very welcome by all the wonderful staff. I have always wanted to stay here and would go back in a flash!!

Decided we wanted a relaxed leisurely lunch and where better to go? The sun came out and we sat on the terrace sipping our drinks. We said we didn't want to rush and the staff got it just right. I opted for the special of the day, pork belly followed by creme brule and raspberries. My partner went for a croque monsieur with a fried egg. The food was excellent. The detail is what made it; the fried egg was perfect and the pork just melted.
The wines we drank were off a very professional list and well worth tasting. Service was not over formal and just what was wanted.
To sum up this was a lunch we will remember for a long time for all the right reasons.
