We visited The Rising Sun Inn on numerous occasions while staying in St. Mawes in May 2013 on our first trip to Cornwall. The food is fabulous and the staff are very friendly & obliging. The pub has a great atmosphere with lots of different seating areas, including a really nice outdoor terrace overlooking the harbour & Roseland Peninsula, ideal for those warm, relaxing sunny afternoons. The Rising Sun also offers accommodation for those wishing to stay.
Lots of local ales & ciders are available - I can recommend the Proper Job and Tribute bitters as well as the excellent Cornish Rattler cider (my wife developed a taste for this too!!).
We had lunch & evening meals here several times and couldn't fault it. A wide range of dishes are available including a good choice of vegetarian options. The fresh ingredients are all locally sourced where possible, especially the seafood. The fish & chips must be tried too.
Paul & the rest of the staff are working hard constantly and it really shows with the outstanding service. The meals are prepared to perfection and you never have to wait long, even when it's really busy.
Special thanks must go to Paul who, on the last Friday night of our stay in the village, managed to sort us out a table for a meal when the pub was full.
We'll definitely be heading back there when we next visit Cornwall.

Visited the rising sun for lunch on Saturday 27 April. Food was delicous. We all had different. One of us had the one of the vegetarian options. Which she said was heavenly. They have some different veggie options to the normal run of the mill stuff. Will definitely visit again. Lovely village, lovely pub fab views.

This is a well located pub type restaurant in the Centre of St Mawes, with some sea views sand plenty of outdoor seating in a Sunni and sheltered spot. The menu is indifferent pub fare at prices which reflect its location. Dogs allowed. Wine by the glass quite poor. No comment on accommodation since we only had lunch here.

We visited the Rising Sun for four nights with our two Border terriers. Our room was clean, warm & comfortable with a sea view. The specials in the bar/ restaurant were so good we couldn't be bothered to eat anywhere else. Fish &chip night on Fridays was particularly good and brought in the locals. Dogs were allowed in the bar ans sitting room and they enjoyed it too!

We suggested the introduction of a mid week special deal In Feb/ March.

We will be going back.

Room Tip: Choose a front facing room for a sea view

Main course good.Very dissappointed when Stilton cheese arrived.two of us to share one dish .Decided to have Port with it, could not belive No Port.in hotel.,!,!.
The cheese we eat , straight out of the fridge, alful no taste.did complain to bar man, who said they would of changed it, what was the point of that as I said would still be the same as what we had just had .Very arrogant. .Needs a course in customer relations, not interested in your paying guest.
