This place really delivers.
It would be very easy for a venue of this location to serve average fair with disinterested staff- but they really stand up to expectation.
We came here on a grey lunchtime, dogs were welcome so long as they were on a lead and off the furniture. The antipodean staff (a young lady and a gentleman) were as friendly and accomodating as you could possibly ask for in a busy pub.
The first visit consisted of soup of the day (homemade, hearty, tasty) and an astonishingly good cajun salmon salad with new potatoes and a homemade salsa. Washed it down with a pint of the local St Austells Tribute (this is a fine pint which I shall be looking out for again!)
Came back for a few afternoon drinks on a sunny day and then lunch before we headed home the day after- beautifully cooked fish and chips and a decent sweet and sour pork.
I look forward to frequenting The Rising Sun the next time we're in St Mawes :-)More
