Booked in for Easter Saturday to stay, previously only enjoyed food and drink at the Inn. Manageress was flexible enough to permit a one night stay during peak period. Welcome excellent and service friendly from all, even with the busyness of the period. Accommodation was of much higher standard that expected with rooms being in very good order and public areas very well maintained. No noise at all despite windows at front and being first floor above the bustling bar. If you want to be in St Mawes, this is a very well priced option vs premium alternatives.

(Limited hotel parking but public car park next door)

Stayed at the Rising Sun for 3 days before christmas. The room was very clean and comfy with great views over the sea. The food at the Rising Sun is excellent and plentyfull (i highly recommend the local fish and chips..... to die for :-) )
The full english breakfast was again excellent.
The Staff at the Rising Sun are pleasent and good fun and very accomodating ( i forgot my i-phone charger and a member of staff borrowed me theirs for the day)

I highly recommend this as a pplace to relax and enjoy this beautiful part of the country......i will be returning

Room Tip: Sea view rooms are excellent

We had lunch here while staying in St Mawes! it is a lovely pub and we enjoyed the Cornish lager, Korev and had fish and chips for lunch. We'll we have dined around the country in some of the best places, but this was undoubtedly one of the best fish and chips we have ever had - not to be missed!! We have fond memories of the Rising Sun which turned out to be the gastronomical peak of our Cornish trip.

I called in to The Rising Sun in St. Mawes with my mother for a drink after a 19 year absence. It was for old times sake.
The last time was very pleasant back in 1994.
Unfortunately they have a bar man who simply gives the impression that he'd rather be doing something else, somewhere else without anyone else around. Dismissive and rude. We tried to strike up the brief conversation you have while ordering a drink, you know, small talk, and he completely ignored us. Only interested in taking money.
If you're front of house then your people (soft) skills need to be honed to perfection, we're paying £5.75 for a fizzy water and a pint of ale and the bar man made the whole experience very uncomfortable.
We sat outside, he then came out and smoked his roll up while unpacking the chains to lock up he table for the night. This should wait until paying guests have gone!
It seems the people skills in this pub need some serious rethinking.

We visited here as a couple and I must say how enjoyable our stay was. Breakfast was to die for and our evening meal was amazing. Compliments to all the staff, very hard working and pleasant. Will return.

Room Tip: Corner Suite is beautiful
