Please note this is a review for their takeaway fish and chips hatch round the back of the entrance to the main restaurant (which was fully booked). It was by far the best Ive had. The chips were double cooked and so nice and crispy. The fish batter light and and the fish fresh. The garlic aioli and tartar were also to die for. mushy peas were great and minty but not hot enough. Add to all this that the same fish and chips is on sale on the restaurant menu for twice the price and you have yourself a bargain! So if you or your partner is tempted by the fish and chips on the menu at the restaurant, save some cash, get take away and sit outside to admire the lovely view! Winner.

We really enjoyed a meal here when we were unable to book a table at The Idle Rocks. It was no loss as we enjoyed a really good meal here instead. In particular one of their specials on the night (turbot) whilst not a particularly large course was cooked and presented superbly. We were sitting downstairs which could do with a little work on the ambience and the layout of the tables near the windows but those are minor points. We intend to visit again when we next stay in St Mawes.

We found this lovely little spot overlooking the harbour by accident the first time, but it quickly became a 'come back' spot....especially if you are looking for afternoon tea. Without doubt, the cream teas we had were the best we found anywhere. The scones are light and fluffy, and cooked on the premises, and come with a generous helping of clotted cream and jam; the tea is made with tea leaves and if you fancy coffee, the latte is excellent! The staff are always smiling and welcoming. We drove from Helston to St Mawes on the last day of our holiday just to taste that final cream tea! (Oh ...and if you have no time to eat, they do take away too!!!)

From the moment you enter this fabulous building, you feel welcomed and really relaxed. The menu is varied and to suit all, with a real emphasis on local produce. The staff are so friendly, extremely helpful, and make you feel appreciated on a return visit. We wish them continued success!

Chips were over cooked, very dry inside, had to wait about 10 minutes(on the road,no path) had fish which was watery, over priced at £7.00,could have paid an extra 95p and sat in to eat at the ship & castle café.
