Great location but food only average. Scones were not tasty (maybe not even so fresh!). Other food we had there was so-so...

I visited The Rising Sun in St Mawes as part of an organised visit on a beautiful day - we had booked for 12 people and were ushered into a lounge which was dark and very much a winter room. The conservatory etc was pretty empty and it would have been nice to have been offered this area instead. I had a crab sandwich on granary bread with a salad garnish - I have had crab sandwiches in many places in Cornwall and this rates as the worst - it was dry, the crabmeat was brown with virtually no white meat - the salad garnish was dull and not really eatable. Others chose crab in baguettes which were not good - all left most of the baguette - the jacket potatoes were poor, cooked badly and not worth what we paid for them. A real disappointment I am afraid and we are all local - so a bit embarrassing to think of tourists having to put up with this awful food on offer. No, we didn't complain as we didn't want to upset the organiser of our group.

Have eaten here before and never been disappointed. Enjoyed the grilled plaice with a lovely salad. Very nice indeed. Great to find a "healthy" option. Staff very friendly and we shall definitely return when next visiting this lovely port.

This pub is very popular, and has a great atmosphere, especially outside. Only had drinks, but food looked lovely.

Fresh fish, freshly cooked, fantastic beer batter so very light and fluffy, homemade chips, trimmings with fresh lemon, could not fault the meal in any way. You can always be guarantee a brilliant meal here and great with groups and families. View I front of the harbour side out to see. What more do you need
