“Perfect Cornish weekend at Little Fentafriddle”
Reviewed 21 October 2013

We have just returned from a wonderful stay at Little Fentafriddle. Me, husband, 3 yr old and dog!
What a wonderful set up. Really high quality accommodation, beautifully designed. You can walk out of your little enclosed garden, straight over the fields all the way to Trebarwith Strand. Returning after a day out and about was such a treat, warm and toasty cottage and a huge bathto sink into followed by watching a dvd ( really great selection) whilst the wood burner blazed with a glass of champagne in hand, bliss!
James (owner) was so helpful with Sunday lunch recommendations and we cannot wait to rebook another stay here. We've stayed with Unique Home Stays and Boutique Boltholes all over Cornwall and Little Fentafriddle has been the best to date!

We recently stayed in the main Fentafriddle cottage as a family of seven. The reason for our visit was for my Mum and Dad's Ruby 40th wedding anniversary, so it had to be special. It was incredibly important to make sure that we marked their milestone in the best way possible, you can't get that time back if you get it wrong. It was a considerable amount of money to book and in the back of my mind before we went I wondered if it would match expectations and my hopes. It looked lovely on the website but I naturally had niggles in the back of mind before we went that places always look nicer on-line with professional photography etc. As soon as we started the ascent up the drive I knew it would be lovely because the grounds were immaculate. Nothing prepared me though for quite how beautiful it was (the aforementioned professional website photos don't do it justice!!). The setting is stunning and you would never get tired of that view. James and Lucy the owners met us upon arrival and were so welcoming but then discreet, we didn't see them again until we left. They showed us around and not only were the grounds amazing, truly every room got a wow. They have really lovely taste and have thought of all the little touches you could hope for with beautiful linens and fabrics, orchids and candles. We love cooking and wanted to spend as much time as possible together in the cottage and the kitchen is well equipped so if you do stay in and not venture far you will be perfectly happy although there is lots to see and do on your doorstep. The living space is really large and there are little break out areas so you don't feel like you are on top of each other. With Sky tv, a Bose music system and a library of dvd's you would be just as happy in the depths of winter as the summer. It is super clean and comfortable. Back to the beginning of my review and the cost, things are only really expensive if you don't believe that they are value for money and you absolutely get what you pay for when you book Fentafriddle. You could of course find a cottage for less but not like this, there is no comparison. This is a luxury retreat and so much more than a rental property it is a home from home. We had a wonderful stay and will return. If you are lucky enough to have booked and be staying here don't miss out on the build up and excitement of going by worrying- you will love it!

We stayed with a dog and a 6 month old in Tremanon cottage in early May. I can honestly say this is the best self catering cottage we have ever stayed in. The attention to detail with the toiletries, bed linen, furnishings is second to none. It was spotlessly clean, looked fresh and "unused" and the kitchen was so well kitted out you really could cook a proper meal as basic cooking essentials such as salt, stock cubes etc are already there. There are even fresh herbs growing outside the door in tubs my boyfriend spotted and cooked with. The welcome hamper was lovely and the champagne in the fridge very well received!

We had some glorious sunshine, the views out over the fields to the sea are just delightful, resting in the big sofa looking out with the doors flung open, or sitting out on the terrace are moments of true peace and relaxation. There are DVDs and books galore should you need them and Sky tv for kids channels should you need them too! The beach is a good 20 min walk I would estimate and just beacuse we had a young baby with us we drove down, but I would imagine it's a lovely walk. It is rocky initially but like other parents with babies we carried him down in the car seat which was easy enough. You can also take dogs all year, our dog loved running around, and there's a cafe and pub looking out. Sound good? It is! And at night in the cottage there's not a sound to be heard, waking up to bird song and sun streaming in was just fantastic.

So a big thank you to the owners James and Lucy Scott who were delightful and helpful, I want to thank them for giving us the best possible gift for first time parents - a stressfree extremely comfortable perfect first holiday with our baby. We will never forget it. Thank you!!

We booked Fentafriddle online to hold our intimate wedding ceremony in and combine with a weeks stay in the main cottage.
From the beginning we were warmly welcomed by James and Lucy and the accommodation, location, setting and amenities were all absolutely outstanding.
The bedrooms are luxurious but homely and the view has to be seen to be believed.
A wonderful location from which to explore the North Cornish Coast.
Highly reccomended.

We have rented properties from Unique Home Stays, twice. Both times we have been very impressed with the standard of accomodation - truly stylish and luxurious, beyond our expectations. And, always immaculately pristine.

Agreed, you do pay an absolute premimum price for their cottages - but this is clearly because they offer such superb accomodation, in stunning locations.

If I was renting a cottage, that had previously had 3 little children, and a large hairy dog in it for a week then I would ABSOLUTELY hope, and expect, that the cleaners would spend many hours cleaning the property very thoroughly, indeed.

It is because of these extremely high standards of presentation, decor and attention to detail, that we feel very secure booking a property through Unique Home Stays, because we know they only offer top-class accomodation, interior designed and beautifully presented.

I am a bit fanatical about my interior design and cleanliness standards - and am so weary of too many rental cottages being offered, with tired-looking interiors, dated furnishings and just a cursory clean between guests.

These cottages might be deemed perfectly acceptable by a lot of people...but, I'm certainly not one of them. I want tasteful interiors, quality furnishings and immaculate presentation & cleanliness. And, I am so very, very grateful that Unique Home Stays are one of the very few, rental companies that can provide this.

I stayed in the main barn in October and had such a special time. The barns are beautiful, practical, tastefully decorated and blissfully quiet.
You are surrounded by rolling fields and close to a rugged Cornish beach only minutes down the road. It is outstandingly beautiful.
The accommodation provides everything you would need and is understated luxury. I can't wait to return.

Everyone plans, researches and ultimately dreams of finding the perfect place to celebrate their marriage with their friends and family. We had the greatest pleasure in finding the most perfect place imaginable to host our wedding day, Fentafriddle. The location alone is simply breath taking, panoramic views of the sea and across the beautiful north cornwall coastline, incredible landscape surrounds fentafriddle, making it a breath taking place to spend such a special time.
Our family and friends stayed throughout the barns, everything had been taken care of, the exterior and interiors are truely splendid, finished to an exceptional standard. The whole weekend went wonderfully and this was all down to the planning and care taken by James and Lucy to ensure a wonderful time was had by all, everything had been considered and thought of making it such a relaxing and brilliant celebration.
Fentafriddle is a truly exceptional destination, we didn't want to leave and are desperate to return for another stay.... along with the whole wedding party who can not wait to return! Fentafriddle is the most perfect place to stay, to celebrate and to relax with your family and friends, you can not ask for more.
