This is a wonderfully charming hotel with friendly, hard working staff. We were greeted at the door by two beautiful deerhounds closely followed by Mike and Mary, the owners who made us feel very welcome. We had booked for two nights but arranged an extra night as we felt so relaxed. The food is excellent, our room was beautiful and comfortable and the staff so friendly. A special thanks to Tina and Tash who worked tirelessly. It was lovely to sit with a drink in the gardens looking out over the views of the coast line. Well worth a visit. Good value for money.

Booked a double room (no. 1 on the first floor, which overlooks the car park, but also affords great views over the countryside) for four nights in June. The room was of bright, airy and of decent size, with largish bed, ample storage space and a couple of chairs by the window. Separate bathroom, with over bath shower.

Overall, we enjoyed our stay, but felt that there were a few niggles that, if they had been dealt with, would have made this a 5-star rated review:

- The owners have two very large Scottish Deerhounds, who are quite endearing at first, and daft as anything. However, they do seem to take over the place, completely commandeering one of the bar area sofas, and would probably benefit from a little more discipline, such as when they tried to follow us up the stairs to our room. They could be intimidating to some, and particularly children.

- There was a little bit of a doggy smell in the room on the first couple of nights, where I suspect that the dogs had been allowed in whilst the bed was being made up. The guest rooms really should be off limits to them.

- Shower underpowered, but this seems a feature of UK B&Bs generally!

- Hair in the bathroom sink plughole. Unforgivable.

- No extractor fan in the bathroom, so the only way to clear the steam was to open the window. OK in June, but probably not in winter!

- Squeaky bed, which could probably do with a bit of maintenance and tightening of the fixings.

- The duvet was far too heavy for summer. I ended up kicking it off most nights, but a lower tog one would have been better, with blankets to add if necessary.

- Rattling sash windows, which we had to deal with by wedging folded bits of newspaper and a teaspoon into the gaps, but this sort of added to the character.

- WiFi was very patchy in the public areas, but OK in the room. Again, a common feature of UK B&Bs and hotels.

- Biscuits in the room only on the first day, and not subsequently replenished. Given the clear expense lavished on the breakfasts, perhaps a bit of that budget could be put towards a few Custard Creams?

On the plus side:

- We ate from the carvery on the first (Sunday) night and, at just £8pp, plus £4pp for dessert, represented terrific value. Well cooked and generous portions.

- Breakfast were brilliant, with a very large selection form the buffet, including huge pastries and croissants. There seemed to be a lot left at the end of the serving (see my point above about biscuits). Cooked breakfast option on top of this, and I had the full English with scrambled egg, on all four days. Again well cooked, with the only slight negative that the bacon was a little oily for my liking and would perhaps have benefitted from grilling rather than frying, but it wasn't swimming in oil, and that is just my personal taste.

- The staff were wonderful, helpful and very chatty, particularly at breakfast (Tina & Tasha?).

- Perfectly located for the coastal path, which is accessed along the side of the property, and just a few minutes walk into Tintagel itself.

I would definitely stay again if in the area.

Stayed for two nights in this charming and lovely run guest house. Bedroom had really nice views of the sea and coastal headlands. Only a short walk into Tintagel and was right next to coastal path that leads to the castle and is a very scenic walk. Made to feel very welcome by staff and room, whilst slightly dated, was very comfortable and relaxing. Restaurant was well presented and food tasty. Worth a visit for a relaxed and welcome stay.

We stayed at the Bossiney house hotel purely as a friend was staying there at the end of our holiday and we were meeting up for one night with them and thought it would be fun to stay at the same place. However within a few minutes we arranged to stay an extra night, it was a wonderful place, Mike & Mary were kind & caring above and beyond, nothing was too much trouble. Tina, was equally kind and helpful, and if she was flustered by our plan to stay an extra night & having to change the room plan it didn't show. The views were exceptional and the food in the hotel was gorgeous! Breakfast was buffet style with plenty to fill you for the day, continental and full English. Their adorable deerhounds added to the visit, beautiful and very friendly. Fabulous location with wonderful staff what more can you want. Didn't use the pool, but our friends had & said it was great.

Room Tip: Room 4 was lovely, with a great view of the sea.

Wonderful location, comfortable beds and excellent food at a reasonable price. Coupled with welcoming, genial host and hostess with friendly staff what more could one want? We did not use the swimming pool so can not comment on it. The path down to the coast path runs alongside the hotel and we were lucky enough on one day to meet and greet the wild ponies.

Room Tip: As we had two small dogs with us we were given the garden room. This opens on to a large lawn which...

We stayed here for two nights with our dog and were treated like family. It's a great hotel, very clean with exceptional food, all locally sourced, cooked and prepared by an excellent chef. My husband had scallops as a starter and has raved about them ever since! The merengue basket is a vision to behold, truly lovely. We had a room that led out onto a small patio so we could let our dog out for walkies when required. Lovely soft fluffy towels and soft bed linen. Great views and a real welcoming feel make this a superb place for a short break. Our room whilst not huge was perfectly adequate for our needs.

We stayed at the Bossiney House Hotel whilst looking for a property to buy in the area. The owners were very welcoming and couldn't be more helpful we took our small dog and even she was well catered for we were allocated a downstairs room with access to a small patio and side gate to allow for walkies as and when required. We ate at the hotel on the Tuesday evening as we were tired after house hunting and the food was excellent, very tasty and beautifully presented. A lovely trip.
