Bossiney House Hotel
Ranked #2 of 6 Hotels in Tintagel
Reviewed 28 August 2010

B&B located on the outskirts of Tintagel, approx 10 min walk to pubs etc. set in a nice quiet location with sea views to one side of the house. Nicely decorated room, amazingly comfortable bed and pillows only downside was the poorly decorated bathroom, tiles had been replaced at different times so had different coloured whiteness, bad plaster job behind the toilet but was clean and had a constant supply of hot water.

The breakfast was AMAZING! self service full cooked english breakfast that was replenished frequently and was always piping hot. Croissants, porridge, toast, cereals, fresh fruit, yoghurt was also available. Tina was very friendly and happy to assist with any local information and advice.

B&B seems to be popular with overseas visitors, 24 germans were visiting during our stay so we were advised to go for dinner earlier rather than later. We didn't visit the restaurant during our stay but if the breakfast was anything to go by i'm sure it would be as good.

Only problem we had was that we were located directly below the family room so had the constant thud of children running round above us, sound proofing was not good. Would stop at Bossiney House again but would make sure we were not in the same room / located below the family room.

B&B ideally situated for walks in the area, coastal walk starts within 5 mins from the house, beautiful scenery near by.

Feel this review is not complete until we have mentioned Angus, their dog (large scottish deerhound), owners checked we were OK with dogs before we were introduced to him - he slowly walked over for a fuss then slowly walked off again - quite a gentle giant who seemed happy to be fussed or left alone - possibly the most chilled out dog in Tintagel :-)

Spent only a night in this family run hotel and was treated like long-lost friends; comfortable room, tasty food, attentive service and the dog was allowed to accompany me to the bar - now that's what I call a great hotel. Situated between Tintagel and Boscastle, this hotel is ideal if you want to go to the beach or walk the coastal footpath which passes about 400m to the rear. I will be staying there again when I next visit my family in nearby Treven.

We had driven past the hotel on previous visits to the area, and when we decided to get married in Cornwall, we wanted a place for our family and friends to stay, and thought we would check it out. The people were lovely, we slept like logs, the portions were generous, the food was really, really good, and all the staff were really good with our little boy - it was a very family friendly atmosphere - with slight quirks - which I really liked - I would also say to anyone who wants to stay there - I hope you like dogs! They have a gorgeous but enormous deerhound - he is extremely gentle and was very good with our son - he has a real personality and made us roar with laughter - we liked the place so much we are taking over the whole hotel for our wedding weekend later this year!

We looked for a B&B close to Tintagel that would allow us to bring my friends dog along - not many these days do. We where pleasantly surprised not only about the location but more so about the friendliness of the owners and all staff. They had a function in the dining room that night and we did not want to leave the dog alone in the room so they set our table in the drawing room instead and we had a nice private dining experience. Great Food by the way!

It was raining all day and night but the rooms where cosy and warm, with extra blankets and heating, a small tray with complimentary tea and coffee included. The bathroom was rather small but totally sufficent and if we where smokers (which we are not) we could have gone outside our back door to a small patio for that.

All in all a very good stay in Tintagel and only about 10min from the actual village.

We just stayed here for seven nights. Wonderfully welcoming staff, Angus, the Deerhound, is a gem but isn't pushy. If you want to stroke him or cuddle him he's happy to oblige but doesn't generally approach guests without invitation. Food was EXCELLENT and plentiful, breakfast was fabulous every morning and the carvery on Sundays is to die for! Room was adequate, beds a trifle hard and not much storage space in our room but my mum's room was lovely. Our ensuite struggled to do justice to it's job but again, the other room was much better appointed. However, at such good rates you can't complain! Didn't try the pool so can't comment. Free wifi and ample free parking, an excellent choice.

We all had a lovely time at Bossiney House Hotel. The owners and staff were extremely accommodating and we had a very relaxing stay. The kids loved the nearby beach. The room we stayed in was ideal for families with a duplex room area for the kids which linked into our own so they had their own space. The breakfast time was great and we all ate well. We all thoroughly enjoyed the mini golf course in the garden.

Coming from Zimbabwe for a break and having booked 5 nights as the internet advertisement was good and promising the arrival turned out opposite. Swimming pool not functional, Sauna as well, big garden with ocean view turns out as a middle size of lawn far away from the ocean (some blue glimbse on the horizon). Owner (?) Mr Mike rude and impatient on the request why pool and sauna are not working : " we are low budget hotel and you can not expect having all working " . Room size 12 sqm and matraces very worn out .... unfortune that the tourism board allows those people to operate "!

Afterwards been complimented out and we needed to find a new accomodation, which we found in the nearby Camelot Castle Hotel which is a secret gem at that place !.
