Owner description: Located below Tintagel Castle, the birthplace of King Arthur, this cave is believed to be where Merlin lived. The caves are accessible from a footpath, but fill with water at high tide.

Came here in March and sadly due to a landslip the steps down were closed off. But have been before and it's a magical place, but if you have your heart set on going down check the tides and that the steps have been fixed.

Pretty cool to see. Didn't go far in as it was pretty wet inside and it opened to another bay on the in between the Tintagel castle areas. The waterfall by the beach was fun. Nice place for the kids to cut loose. We didnt go into the water as it was early in the morning hours and it was a bit cold even at the end of May but other people were jumping in.

The first time I was in Merlin's Cave was in 1967 and I was two thirds of the way through the 330 foot cave when I bumped into the Head Boy from my school in Ruislip. What a coincidence? Everytime I tell the story, the family yawns. This year we went into the cave again and I was able to appreciate just how wonderful in really is. If you get the chance go through. It and marvel at the power of the ocean in making it.
