“Jubilee Cottage - A wonderful place to stay!”

We had a lovely mid-week break staying at Jubilee cottage (next to The Bower House), It is a beautiful well equipped & well maintained cottage in a stunning location. The cottage was very clean & comfortable & within walking distance of the local pub & café. The views from the bedroom, lounge & on the terrace were beautiful, the terrace being private & secure, ideal for our small dog to wander around safely. We would highly recommend this cottage, it is in an ideal, quiet location for exploring the local area & Lake District.

My husband an I just stayed here sat - tue , on first impressions what a cosy quiet place , made ourselves at home , fire on kettle on , Freddy the owner knocked introduced himself , took our payment and asked if we would be using the hot tub !!!! Er yes that's why we booked it ,,, the COST would be £20 for 2 sessions up to an hour !!!!! He wanted to know roughly when we would be using it as we had to book !!! I suffer from leg hip and back pain and find hot tub helps especially after walking !! So wasn't 100% sure ,,, if we wanted more than 2 sessions a further £10 was required ??? I did not and could not find this mentioned on the advert for this cottage on HOLIDAY LETTINGS , we paid the £20 ,,, the location is smashing , nice 10 min walk into village , pub cafe ect walk along the river . The cottage is a nice place ,,, in need of attention and a spring clean in my opinion , why the owner things this cottage need 6 yes 6 tables is beyond me , the sitting dinning and sleeping area is all in one . The bed been a small but comfortable double is one of those pull down from a wardrobe type , very close to the window so mind your knees getting out ,,, ouch !!! There was a lot of lights out , and whole place especially the kitchen could do with a good clean ,, odd was the towels ,, 2 hand 2 bath ,,, shower before hot tub towel wet ,,,, come out of hot tub towel soaking .. jump in shower after tub DRIP DRY ONLY ... there is a barn next to cottage that sleeps 16 I believe . walkers bikers kind of thing ... a bit noise from door open / close but the lights from it light up cottage sleeping area till around 12 when we stayed ,,, I like pitch black to sleep ,,, I would not recommend any where that I would not return to

“Perfect little hideaway!”
Reviewed 18 June 2016 for a stay in June 2016

We stayed 3 nights at the Bower House as part of our honeymoon. Freddie was brilliant and so accommodating despite us staying less than the published minimum stay. The Bower House is a real hidden treasure - on the outskirts of a smart little village yet local towns are very accessible - we visited Penrith, Kendal and Keswick during our stay and didn't feel that we were travelling for a long time. The House is clean, smart and well equipped with everything you need, and the view from the panoramic window has to be seen to be believed! The hot tub is just another added luxury to an already wonderful place to stay. The wifi and mobile signal was quite poor but we felt this was to be expected in such a remote location and did not bother us much. So glad we found it and thank you again Freddie for your warm welcome and hospitality. Highly recommended!

Stayed in this lovely cottage for 4 nights and enjoyed every minute. The Bower house in the peaceful village of Morland was everything we wanted. Had all the facilities we needed and with in a short distance of Ullswater and Keswick. Would definitely recommend to friends and family.

Just returned from a weekend at the Bower house.
We didn't know what to expect, but having stayed in many holiday cottages, this rates as one of the best. We felt immediately relaxed and cosy. The huge panoramic glass window is simply stunning with views across to the far fell.
There is a lovely veranda which we sat out on drinking wine and a field accessible down adjacent steps for easy strolls with the dog.

The village of Morland is lovely; we may even move there now!

Freddy, the owner is delightful. He came to our rescue when we had an issue, which was smoothed over with minimal fuss.

This is a truly lovely quiet cottage, and we will probably break our rule of never returning to the same cottage twice, as this is a special place!
