“Brilliant!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 5 January 2014

We have just returned from the Peverill following a birthday weekend for my Aunt. Eighteen of us stayed as a group and we had a brilliant time. The rooms were lovely and warm. The 3 course evening meal was delicious, I had the Linguine which was so tasty. The service from all staff was second to none from Steve and Yvonne on reception and bar to all the restaurant staff. The hotel itself is warm and inviting with the log burning fire and leather settees. Although we didnt use the outside verandahs we could imagine ourselves sat out with a cold drink on a lovely summers evening. Several walks around the area cater for all capabilities from the ambler to the avid walker.
All in all a warm and inviting hotel we will be sure to return to in the coming months.
Thanks Peverill of the Peak for making my Aunts Birthday so special.

the room decor was old fashioned and the fabric in the bathroom need restoring - worse still, the carpet in the corridor had an pleasant odor reminiscent of an old people's home
the food was average and dining rota was suitable for children, not adults
one group leader was uncommunicative to the point of rudeness
nice location but I'm used to better accommodation & politeness

We had our school re-union here. 22 people mixture of singles and couples between the ages of 50 and 60.. When we arrived, never been before, the pictures do not do justice to the location or the hotel. It was idyllic. The autumn colours proved a perfect setting for the hotel. Our welcome by Yvonne was warm and very welcoming. Settling in was perfect. The bar was open. It was small and intimate and an excellent range of beers, lagers, wines and spirits. Coffee and tea was available to order. Our evening meal was perfect. Nice carvery. The food was delivered fresh and hot and cooked to perfection. The restaurant staff smiled and were very helpful. Special mention for Dulcies who helped add that touch which made us feel welcome. Steve and Hazel, the managers, bent over backwards to provide everything that we needed to make the whole visit as memorable as it should be.

I don't want anyone reading this and think that we are being paid to write such a glowing review. There were areas that could do with improvement. The bedrooms whilst they were well equipped, comfortable and clean, in our case, are in need of refurbishing. Our bathroom was spotlessly clean but needed painting and the tiles grouting. We were surprised to have a single bed as well as a double bed in a double room.

We have no hesitation in recommending this hotel to anyone who wants a small country hotel in idyllic surroundings where you will feel welcomed and under the management of Steve and Hazel will be guaranteed happy memories.

very diappointed with our stay on saturday 31st august. we had a very long walk from reception with lots of steps, to reach our room on the ground floor. no biscuits available, it smelt damp- the wallpaper, damaged or peeling in several places.tea stains on the window sill. the ceiling in the bathroom is mouldy, with the surface peeling off and rust stains running down the tiles into the bath. we had a long wait at the bar, because the receptionist was trying to cope with both jobs at once! the carvery didn't have much selection, though the lamb was very good and so was the breakfast. overall, very expensive at £95 and not what we hoped for. a lovely setting but an overpriced and tired hotel.

Booked the hotel at the last minute and there was very little available in the area so expectations quite low. The room was a bit tired looking but a really clean bathroom a good shower and a comfy bed with nice linen compensated. The room even had an outside area which was a good place to sit with a cup of tea . Free wifi a real bonus. It is clear the decor needs updating but the view outside is so good it hardly matters.

My wife and I, along with her parents, stayed for a night here last night on a visit to Dovedale. If you are planning a walking trip to this part of the country, this is an ideal place to stay. The location is perfect, being only a mile or so from the car park at Dovedale. We were lucky to have lovely weather and the outside space at the hotel is a beautiful place to relax with a drink after a walk. The evening meal was fine, the rooms spacious and comfortable and breakfast this morning first class. All the staff we encountered were friendly and helpful. Highly recommended.

I recently stayed at this hotel with my wife,we rang before we booked to mention i am wheelchair bound, the answer was that will be ok.We arrived and were met by the receptionist who was extremely helpful and showed us to our room.On reaching our room it was obvious i could not enter the room in my chair with the doorway too small, when i eventually gained access the doorway tho the toilet was even smaller,so i put my wheelchair in the bathroom and used my electric scooter to get to the door then transfer to my wheelchair. This hotel is not disabled friendly.
the hotel itself is clean staff very helpful room a little dated, food very good i would have liked to return but with the limitations it's not possible.

Room Tip: no lifts for disabled, and doorways too small
