We stayed at Hillfield - Keepers Lodge - w/c July 13. Fabulous weather meant we could enjoy the lovely pool and sample many of the beautiful beaches close by. We had a great time. Fabulous accommodation - everything you could wish for in self-catering accommodation; plenty of space, comfortable beds, good showers and a dip in the hot tub finished off each day very nicely.
We had never visited this area before and the whole family fell in love with Dartmouth and the surrounding area. So much to do - which we didn’t get round to as the weather was so good. Agatha Christies’ summer home - Greenway and the D’Oyly Carte family home, Coleton Fishacre, both NTS properties are well worth a visit. We were bothered by sand flies at Hope Cove but the cafe just off the beach is very nice. We also found a lovely cove, located near Mothercombe, through the private Flete estate which is only open a few day each week.
Michael and Caroline were fantastic. Helpful and knowledgable - even providing a (very) welcome food pack as we arrived at 3am! The reception/small shop sells essentials like milk and (decent) wine.
Hopefully this will not be our last visit.More
