“Was ok but nothing special”
Reviewed 30 May 2014

Food was ok but the service let it down. Took ages to get someone to take our order and then it was all very rushed. Very understaffed for a lunchtime over a school holiday. Wouldn't return.

“Possibly the Best Coffee Shop in South West”
Reviewed 19 May 2014

Visited Sunday 18th May 2014. What a pleasant suprise to find this oasis on a very busy Sunday in Dartmouth. Dartmouth was heaving, so looked around and around and stumbled on this by accident. Went upstairs (not very easy if impaired) and had the best coffee for a long time. No fancy coffee's mind you, just good old fashioned 'pots' of tea or coffee. Very clean, plenty of atmosphere (as the name implies the floor slopes) and altogether rather quaint. Service was excellent (nothing too much trouble even warm milk) comfortable and very costeffective. 2 x pots of coffee only £3.30 - unbelievable. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED !!
PS The food being served also looked excellent and very reasonably priced.

“cream tea brightened a grey day”
Reviewed 17 May 2014

Having sat down and been ignored at The Angel, the four of us we were delighted to feel welcome here, with huge scones and a pot of tea each. The lovely cream tea brightened a rather grey day.

“Easter visit”
Reviewed 22 April 2014 via mobile

What a gorgeous cafe with attentive staff! Food and service excellent our waitress was excellent with a fantastic sense of humour and had the most fascinating silver bangles and ladybird jewellery! She makes the place the most enjoyable cup of tea and scones we.ve ever had! Back for lunch next week! Bread from your bakery just amazing. Terry Plymouth

“Lovely historic lunchtime treat”
Reviewed 20 April 2014

Stopped for lunch with the family on Easter Saturday. Have to say the food was wonderful and very plentiful (a little too much!). Enjoyed the pasties made on the premises with tea and the children had an ideal lunch (if a little pricey for children at £6.10!).
Worked out the childrens meals were more expensive than our specials (£5.95)- so this needs looking at really, children's meals really need to be around the £4 mark tops to be in line with all other restaurants for lunchtime meals.
Nevertheless, its not everyday you get to enjoy historic surroundings like this one, and we didn't mind on this occasion the price paid. We would go again just because of the atmosphere of the place and the lovely staff we encountered there.
