We really miss the old Jan & Freddie's brasserie, but the Phoenix that has risen from the ashes is wonderful - excellent, welcoming staff, who were very knowledgeable on the food they were serving - warm comfortable atmosphere, with a homely buzz of conversation.
All 6 of us finished everything on our plates - 5 of us had fish in various forms and it was all delicious, the sweet potato fries were a fabulous find. My husband had the fillet steak, it was cooked exactly as requested and was at least £3 cheaper than others we have seen in Dartmouth. My daughter had the lemon pot with ginger biscuit crumbs on top for dessert, it was so smooth and delicious the glass was wiped clean.
The bill came to a very reasonable £25 a head and that was 3 courses for some of us and wine! Could easily have been very much dearer in other restaurants we have been to this week and only been half as good.
Thumbs up for this one - it's a must try - will definitely be booking again next time we are visiting.
