“Beautiful river setting”
Reviewed 4 August 2014

This town of Dartmouth enjoys a wonderful river setting close to the mouth of the Dart as it joins the English Channel. With the pretty little Boat Float and attractive Royal Gardens, there is much to enjoy here. Interestingly, there is a railway station on the quayside, but the railway never got to town. Their Lordships of the Admiralty stopped GWR from bridging the Dart up nearby Dittisham as they felt it might interfere with their tall-masted ships of the line. The whole harbour bustles from dawn to dusk and beyond with water craft of all sizes, and many enjoyable voyages can be taken from this harbour.

“A Bustling Harbour”
Reviewed 4 August 2014

There is much going on here. Boat trips, shops, cafes, ferries. or just sitting and watching. You can lose a day quietly or travel to Dartmouth Castle or Greenway by the various transport services. It is busy from 09.00 and has a wonderful atmosphere.Everything is also within easy walking distance.A great day out or holiday location.

“Fabulous”
Reviewed 3 August 2014

It is such a beautiful little town with nice views and lovely little shops and restaurants. I am only sorry that we did not have more time to try some the boat and steam train trips

“Good place to sit in the sun.”
Reviewed 29 July 2014

Probably about a mile long. Fabulous views across the estuary to Kingswear and the steam railway that arrives from Paignton. Lots of benches to sit on and take in the atmosphere and lots of ships and boats to watch going about their business. I would recommend using the park and ride or the excellent Stage coach bus service ( £4-90 for a day rider) as parking is at a premium. Lots coffee shops and places to eat and drink. Toilets are clean but a little dated. Well worth taking the time to visit.

“Love Dartmouth”
Reviewed 28 July 2014

During a recent family holiday to Devon, once again enjoyed an almost annual day visit to Dartmouth. Having arrived via ferry and steam train from Paignton, the arrival into Dartmouth on a hot and sunny day is nothing short of spectacular.
Although only small, Dartmouth has so much to offer, including some great restaurants, and good quality novely/gift shops.
The views are great, and a real must for those who enjoy their photography. So if you are visiting Devon or Cornwall, I would certainly recommend calling into Dartmouth
