The views across the harbour are stunning with the colourful houses and lush gardens.
Quay was fantastic for crabbing and some people ever successful fishing.
Some beautiful old buildings.
We were based here for our holiday and the main downside was the Dartmouth parking shuffle. Although most parking is free it varies from 1 to 2 hours so if home for the day we had to keep an eye on time and keep moving car. There is park and ride but this is not really what you want when staying in a town.

Very quaint old fashioned harbour

Came on day visit, as we did last year, and still enjoyed it very much

Like place time has forgot, especially going back to the boat via car ferry

Would call again

Great place to go for a few hours good little shops great harbour setting which is fab for crabbing with kids tip - the crabs love uncooked bacon and great fresh fish in the chip shops the fish at the restaurant/takeaway at the harbour side is lovely and free parking for a few hours what a bonus

The harbour is very lively with all types of boat coming and going. The harbour side, with its unique booths to book cruises etc. is a magic place to watch the world go by. Never a dull moment

We drove from our holiday home in Torquay for a day in Dartmouth. There was not a lot of info to be had ahead of time that would have helped us decide what to do. We were lucky enough to find a parking space for a few hours (no mean feat on a summers day) and as a visit to the Naval College was high on our wish list, headed straight for the Tourist Information Center, which was easily found. The ladies there were as helpful as they could be, though I did get a sense that I really should know more about their town than I did. A visit to the Naval College was apparently out of the question as it must be booked ahead of time and all visitors had to show their passport etc as it was a working naval academy. Fair enough, but why wasn't this information available ahead of time ? So we ended pt going to the Farmers Marked as recommended. Really, a few stalls with homemade crafts and some tourist stuff??? But the town is pretty, the harbor is pretty, the gardens are pretty and so forth. Other than watching the boats - not a lot to do for us "not in the know". And as for finding a bench to sit on to eat your ice cream and watch the boats - forget it. All occupied by pensioners who do NOT move from their spot. So all in all, a fairly disappointing day in Dartmouth.
