“Good value short stay”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 9 February 2014

Visited for one night for a family do in Exeter with my 6 year old daughter. Was allocated a triple room as it was available, and reception staff were very friendly and helpful. Room was spacious and modern, the beds were very comfortable and bed linen excellent. The iron and ironing board came in handy, and there was plenty of space for doing the ironing in. Decent bathroom and everything lovely and clean. We didn't use the food facilities (didn't pay extra for breakfast and brought our own with us) so can't comment on them. Hotel is well located for the town centre and Exeter City Station.

Second stay in this Exeter hotel and would definitely choose it again. The location is perfect just five minutes walk from the new shopping area and ten minutes from the cathedral. The rooms are definitely no frills but all the important basics are there: A good quality mattress, power shower, air conditioning and tea and coffee facilities. Housekeeping was excellent ,the only problem we had was with noisy guests returning to their rooms early in the morning. The bar area is warm and welcoming and although the drinks are a bit pricy the bar meals are good value. Other reviewers have complained about the Wi-Fi charges but if you buy anything in the bar you are given a code so for the price of a coffee you can have free wi-fi, can't argue with that.

The rooms are okay. Very clean and the beds comfy and the extra comfy pillows are a nice touch. Having to park in a nearby NCP isn't great! The service is minimalist and the food is that part that really isn't great.

The menus read well until the food comes - it's okay pub grub at excellent restaurant prices. The reasonable stay becomes incredibly expensive as a result of this.

Room Tip: Choose the Abode.

Jury's Inn is a reliable chain 3 star hotel. Rooms are a good size, shower/toilet clean and serviceable. There is a restaurant and bar. The public car park behind the building is cheap - no charge overnight 6pm-8am. It is a short walk to the town centre and the cathedral close.
My problem is with the charges for wifi. Only some booking packages include wifi. Otherwise the charge is £5 for one hour £10 for overnight which is ridiculous. If you buy something at the bar you can obtain a voucher for one hour's wifi. This whole system is out of date with modern trends and is a blatant attempt to extract more money from otherwise satisfied customers.

From the unwelcoming lobby, the overpriced bar and the second-rate buffet breakfast to the laughable combo of overheated corridors and weasel words in the bathrooms about how much they care for the planet, this ugly, ill-sited hotel has all the faults of the corporate model. But it's worse than most: most have a carpark: this doesn't; most offer free wi-fi; this doesn't. (How mean and short-sighted is that?)

So: the guest ends up paying £7 to park in the bleak multi-storey carpark across the street; and has to pay £10 for 24 hours’ wi-fi, on top of a generally soulless experience.

Room Tip: Stay somewhere else.

The postcode took me on a magical mystery tour of Exeter but we got there in the end, the hotel is functional without much character, but for a business trip it was great. The food was good and the bar fine. It was a great location to head out into Exeter Town Centre

Well located a few minutes walk from the city centre and clubs/bars. Price was very reasonable compared to similar hotels in the area and included breakfast and wifi (however the wifi was pretty rubbish).

Bar downstairs that also sells snacks and Costa coffee (at a premium cost!). Staff were friendly and polite.

Only real problem was the cleanliness of the bathroom, there was human excrement on the back of the door. Surely this should have been cleaned prior to our stay?
