my wife and I had previously eaten at this restaurant twice without problems but after arriving at 8:00 pm on a Saturday evening for our third visit, we were greeted with the news that the restaurant had no chicken, lamb or burgers. After perusing the menu at what remained available, we decided to leave since we had a greater variety of food at home!
As we were leaving, I asked the waitress how this situation had arisen and was told that 'they'd had a very busy Friday night'. Now maybe it's me but I find it unacceptable that some 24 hours later after their 'sell-out Friday', they'd done nothing to rectify matters. At the very least they might have phoned us to warn of the limited choice since they do ask for a contact number when you book a table. We drove 22 miles and had a wasted evening as a result of the restaurants' inability to organise itself.
I subsequently contacted the restaurant by e-mail twice to complain but was ignored on both occasions. Needless to say, we won't bother trying to eat here again.

We loved this little cafe/restaurant in Woodbury. The food was superb and the attention to detail and the thought that went into every course made us feel very pleased with our choice. The waitress was lovely and made sure that we were happy with everything. Woodbury is about 10 minutes out of Exeter towards Exmouth. Good roads and ease of parking make it easy to get to.

We visited the Green Door to celebrate our Wedding Anniversary with our family. It is a small, intimate restaurant in the heart of Woodbury village. We were warmly welcomed by Mark and shown to our table. The small dining room has a pleasant modern decor, comfortable leather dining chairs and oak tables. There was a log fire burning. On the walls were modern paintings by a local artist which could be purchased, if desired.

There is an excellent menu with daily menus on the blackboard and A la Carte as well. There was a good choice to suit all tastes.

Some of our group enjoyed a starter - local Lyme Bay scallops (a generous portion), crab soup. Most of us opted for the comfit of duck for our main course, this was cooked to perfection and served on a bed of creamed shredded savoy, mashed sweet potato and garnished with home made sweet potato crisps and black cherries. This was a really excellent choice. Another member of our party chose the slow cooked shoulder of lamb which was also excellent. The sweet lovers of our group chose brulee, chocolate cookies and homemade orange ice cream.
The choice of drinks was good too.
We certainly enjoyed a wonderful evening at the Green Door and will be returning again.
The prices are realistic, service and environment excellent.
It is small - I think it serves about 18 customers as it is a converted cottage. I recommend that you visit the Green Door, you won't be disappointed.
