We had a fabulous family meal at The Green Door whilst on holiday in Woodbury. The food was just delicious - our boys loved the homemade chips whilst we tucked into lobster and local fish! Customer service was excellent . All in all, an absolute gem of a find a few doors down from our cottage. We would most definitely return if in the area again as we didn't get to try breakfast! If you get a chance it is well worth a visit. They also do takeaways!

A group of friends and I visited the green door for a birthday celebration. We had a warm welcome and we were served straight away. The food was fantastic and the chef was happy to cook us pretty much anything on or off the menu. We all agreed we would be back again .

We've only previously visited for lunch and decided to visit for dinner for a special occasion and were very pleased that we did! We all had Fillet Steaks which were seasoned and cooked brilliantly and accompanied by fluffy yet crisp hand cut chips. For pudding, the strawberry cheesecake with basil and olive oil is outstanding. We also had the fruit crumble and chocolate brownie which were well received. We didn't find the service as experienced as other similar restaurants but it was pleasant enough. We'd certainly return.

When we rang to book, Chef Mark was at the Farm shop buying the days vegetables - a good first sign and from then on, things only got better. As previous reviewers have said, difficult to describe just how tasty the food is, you've got to get there to experience it. The Green Door is going through a bit of a transition phase at the moment, having built a reputation since opening in 2009, the quality is now moving up to a different level with a choice of more expensive dishes, but not losing touch by moving the prices up at the bottom end. You get a feeling of passion and pride from all the staff including excellent young chef Ed. Everything is very homely - only 24 covers, but homely doesn't mean corners are cut. Excellent personal service, great crockery and cutlery and everything spotlessly clean. My daughter is a coeliac, no problem at all, and next time she visits from London, Sunday lunch is a must as they do a gluten free Yorkshire pudding!! Having had a cracking lunch yesterday, we left in a slight state of disbelief that we were lucky enough to have a restauarant as good as this right on our doorstep. We were made very welcome despite having our dog with us (very small - recovering from an op and in a dog crate). When our meal arrived, the flavours were intense - fantastic rich crab soup, a wonderful amuse bouche with quail eggs and mackerell and olive tapenade, Confit of Duck with creamed cabbage and smoked ham; and the dessert, Strawberry Cheesecake with basil jelly and black olive puree was a masterpiece worthy not only of AA rosettes, but Michelin stars?

What can I say, we had a truly fantastic evening. The food was phenomenal and there was simply nothing to fault. The flavours were divine and we will certainly be visiting again soon, the perfect evening.

Although there is always a lot of work going on behind the scenes, it is the waiting staff that provide the face of every restaurant. In this case, we had a lovely young lady serving us called Josie, she was efficient, polite and couldn't have been more helpful. We were however in agreement with the table next door to us, that Josie should be modelling and not waitressing! The Green Door was certainly well represented that night.

I have read a couple of comments regarding the presence of the cat, but in my opinion this adds to the homely and welcoming feel, besides, the staff are polite enough to ask if anybody has any problems with cats.

So all in all, with incredible food and service to match, we will most definitely be paying The Green Door a return visit.
