Stayed here for a weekend whilst visiting our daughter at Exeter Uni. Cost of less than sixty quid a night including breakfast. Clean room, comfortable bed, decent breakfast and great staff. Only point to consider is it is way out from the city centre if that's important to you. However, the Barn Owl pub next door is superb! No complaints and would stay here again.

I was impressed with the quality of the room. It was modern, clean and with everything one would need including free Wi-Fi access. It had its own air conditioning unit but if you didn't want it on you could also open the window for fresh air (useful at night, I thought). Breakfast was included in the price but, as others have commented, it wasn't anything special. In fact, the self service area was quite small for the number of guests that stay here making it a struggle to get the things you want for breakfast. If there is anything that needs improving then it's the size of the restaurant service area. The hotel is very conveniently located on the edge of the city near the motorway and not too far from the airport, yet I was not inconvenienced with any undue noise either from inside or outside the hotel. Overall a good hotel to stay in.

Room Tip: Rooms at the back are probably quieter.

First time we have stayed here as regular visitors with a son at the University. Hotel is well appointed as an HIExpress, recognised as an IHG Rewards member nothing fabcy but everything just right. Only gripe is that breakfast is a bit average when compared with other 'budget' chains in the city.

This is your standard Holiday Inn Express. The rooms are comfortable without being exceptional. They are clean and are average in size. The free breakfast is very limited and to be honest we were looking elsewhere for breakfast after the first day. There is a hotel across the car park (Barn Owl) When we were there it was pretty crowded and the service was very poor but I give them some leeway here as they may have been under staffed. The location is not central to the city as it's on the city fringe. We had a car though so this wasn't an issue for us. There is a bus stop outside and I would imagine it would be a short 15 minute trip into the city centre. There are plenty of restaurants and bars on the river front if your looking for dining options away from the hotel. Once again this would be 10 minutes by car maybe 15 by bus.

Thank you for taking the time to write a review. I am pleased you found the room clean and comfortable. I am sorry that the free breakfast that the hotel offers was not to your taste, we do strive to ensure that the continental breakfast with added hot choices is appealing to all our guests. The Barn Owl does get very busy however I will pass your comments onto the management company as I am sure that he will carry out some further training with his team.
Kind Regards

My family has just returned from a 3 day stay at this wonderful hotel, very easy to find just off the M5 Junction 29. Upon arrival we were made to feel instantly welcome by the reception staff, swift check in and free wifi codes were given for our devices which were valid for the duration of our stay. Newly refurbished bedrooms, very clean and a choice of pillows soft/hard to suit individual needs. Room service everyday. Great choice of hot & cold buffet breakfast, which ranges from cereals & croissants to sausages & eggs etc this is all included in the booking price so no unexpected charges when checking out. Free on site parking with copious amounts of space. This is our second stay here and it won't be our last. Thoroughly recommend this hotel, extra thanks to Debbie (General Manager) & her fantastic staff.

Easy to find just off M5 J29 and next morning easy to get on to the A30. Good, free parking. Stayed in room on 2nd floor overlooking the lake, very quiet, clean and comfortable. Good shower but I suggest you take your own shampoo, shower gel etc.as the dispenser on the wall may be 'green' but not easy to use. A free breakfast was on offer which made the stay good value but as I need a gluten free diet I found the choice limited and the fresh fruit, eggs and beans all rather 'stale'. Perhaps smaller quantities could be replenished more often.
Ate at the pub next door in the evening which was fine. Park & Ride opposite if you have the time to go in to Exeter. I would stay here again.

I have stayed in Exeter a few times and feel this hotel is a perfect location. It is next too the park and ride station and has a pub/restaurant next door. It also has a cash machine just around the so corner for convenience too. The staff are very friendly and rooms are spotless and comfy, if I had to have a bit of a moan it would be that the cooked breakfast has limited choice. I will be staying again in April 2014.
