Another one on my travels................ despite being on the main road the room was quiet, clean had good facilities, overlooked lovely garden; great double glazing so was quiet. Staff were lovely, friendly and smiley, nothing too much trouble. Food good, nothing flashy just nice. The breakfast was great, recommend the organic smoked salmon and scrambled eggs !

We called in on passing and talked to a lovely woman with glasses on reception. She was very friendly and helpful even though she was very busy. She gave us a brilliant walk in deal for one night b and b. Room was fab. Well decorated nice bedlinen and large bathroom with bath. Very well decorated. We ate in the bar and food was lovely. Not extensive menu but substantial. Breakfast was the best. My goodness it was fabulous. Great selection. I actually has the egg benedict but had to pay a bit extra for this but the English cooked breakfast looked amazing. We actually called the following night as we had to stay over an extra night while on business but they were fully booked. We had to stay in one of the chain of cheaper hotels but it actually was 25 pounds more expensive with less frills. You cannot walk into town I don't think that's the only downside but well done bucker ell lodge

We stayed in room 7 Topsham Suite for 2days on a really attractive - 'Spring Saver" - last Saturday & Sunday. The setting is fantastic, but the room was unbearably hot. Radiator off, but boiling. We had to have window open whole time, and still too hot. Told could not be moved, nothing they could do. The ground floor obviously has some problem, heat hits you when you enter the block. Two sets of fire doors wedged open presumably for air flow. Told nothing could be done by reception. Shame.

Thank you very much for taking the time to write a review and I am sorry that you found the hotel too hot. Our fire doors are kept open at all times and autmoatically close in the event of the alarms sounding rather than for air circulation but we wil monitor the temperature carefully particularly now that the warmer weather seems to have arrived.

Took this excellent value short break with husband and daughter to celebrate her 25th birthday. The break included 2 nights b&b, meal on the first night and upgrade to the room. I have always been bit sceptical about special offers/deals because they never seemed to fit our requirements. This one did, perfectly. The hotel staff are friendly and efficient, rooms and bathrooms were very clean and well apoointed. The meal on Friday night was superb, lovely and fresh, excellent quality. Wished we lived closer because I would eat here on a regular basis. The breakfasts were the best we have had in a long time. Also went to Galley restaurant as per previous review thouroughly enjoyed the meal. but would have been happy to eat at hotel again if we had not already booked it.

Stayed for a two night winter break, 16th and 17th Feb. Excellent value. Great staff. Agree with all of the positive things other people have mentioned.

If I had to be ultra picky, I would say the room we had would not suit people used to masses of space. But it was very comfortable, with two linked three foot divans, making for a very wide double bed. Again, being picky, the pillows were either very cheap or were past their best.

The flat screen TV had full compliment of Freeview channels. Sadly, this model of Toshiba did not hold the volume setting, when switched to standby. Meaning that when switched on in the early morning, it was initially rather loud.

To give a balanced view, I had to try very hard to remember the three little things that slightly niggled. As overall, this is a very nice hotel.

We received a warm & friendly welcome. All the staff were helpful & friendly throughout the our 2 night stay. The room was comfortable and spotlessly clean. This is an excellent place for exploring Exeter and the surrounding area. We will return.
