Set back from the road you'll miss it if you don't know where it is. Quaint, friendly and amply equipped. Even though a very modern room the creakiness of the floors gave it a "Old English" feel. The wait staff were a little overwhelmed at breakfast but it wasn't anything to get upset over.

We enjoyed our stay and will definitely choose this location if returning to the area.

A hotel on the edge of Exeter with easy access from the motorway and close to the city centre, pleasant gardens and I was woken by birdsong not traffic. The staff were nice and helpful and the deal we booked included a free bottle of wine - nice! The restaurant served traditional, nothing fancy dinner and breakfast so we were well fed, although if I were to stay again I would probably choose to eat out for dinner. However, I found the hotel room too hot to sleep well despite the window being wide open and it only being May, so I'm glad it was only for one night. The room was in a modern wing which contrasted with the country house feel of the main building whic hI wasn't expecting but it was fine for a last minute night away.

Had a two night break here. Very convenient for City centre, bus stop outside, and opposite a lovely walk along river through park down to the quay. Pleasant sunny garden at front with plenty of chairs and tables. Staff helpful and friendly. Our room was on the far side, so very quiet away from the road, but although room was clean and well decorated, it seemed dark and drab, due to small window and very dull beige decor and carpet looked old. Bathroom was clean and modern, but couldn't get toilet to flush and shower head partially blocked. Had to ask for heating to be put on each evening as it was cold. Evening meal was disappointing, not well presented, and certainly not worth the £19.50 each, even with wine.(red or white). Breakfast was good, with generous portions and very good service. Overall the hotel seemed 'tired', the bar/lounge area seating was old, and some of the chairs stained and needing reupholstering.

I would never stay here again, I booked b and b, however when I arrived at the hotel they said it was room only, even though I had confirmation saying B & B.
In my room, you could not turn the heating off, therefore my room was so hot. The TV was old, and the picutre was all fuzzy.
In the bathroom, there was not enough pressure to shower, and the hot water tap didnt work.
At 12.30 am I was woken up with a party in the next room to me, I called reception, who was rude and not helpful, the party went on too 3.30 am. therefore I had to close the window, and put up with the heat. NEVER AGAIN. was offered no breakfast even after complaining about everything. DISGUSTING. nicer places to stay then this

My partner and I stayed here using a buyagift 2 night stay voucher.
We would never normally book a hotel within a city but left it too late to get a booking elsewhere. That said the vast beauty of Devon and Dartmoor was within easy access and once in the hotel grounds you could almost forgive its location.
We had a standard double room which was tiny, just enough room to walk around the bed. Was a little disappointed at this but the room was clean and bed and bedding was very comfy. Ensuite bathroom was on the small side and had a very annoying noisy loo who's flush would get stuck unless you fiddled with it. However the shower was fantastic and could fill the bath with a little bubble bath within minutes as water pressure was immense! We only ate breakfast on our first morning, I didn't think it was anything special and thought the staff were a little robotic. Personally I didn't think the hotel had much character and very much doubt we would stay here again, however itsgood value for money if you just want somewhere to get your head down x

Stayed for two nights booked through Secret Escapes. Excellent room rate. Nice double room with garden access as well. Very clean. Bed and pillows very comfy. Flat screen tv, safe and iron and ironing board in the room were useful. Good quality complimentary toiletries. Tea and coffee making facilities could have been better stocked. All staff were friendly and helpful. Good quality breakfast with lots of choice for both hot and cold selections. I would have no hesitation in recommending this hotel.

We stayed for 2 nights using a Living Social voucher. We ate in the hotel on the first night and the food was excellent quality. Breakfast very good too, with fresh fruit and croissants in addition to the usual fare. The room was spotless, bed very comfortable and the bathroom excellent too. The staff were very friendly and helpful. Was good also to be able to request fresh milk for the tea making facility in the room, as those long life pots are not good. The hotel is only a mile away from Exeter City Centre and we were able to walk into Exeter quite easily, A very enjoyable couple of days.
