Do not book this hotel having the main image on the website in mind .... If you do you will be very disappointed ....!!

Service poor, rooms poor and very dated, restaurant food poor.

Overall this hotel had a dated, lost its touch, fawlty towers feel to it !!

Even the windows rattled and banged in the night at the slightest breeze !

Restaurant food is worse than what you'd get at a cheap pub !

Not happy at all .... Would rather stay in a travelodge !

I recently stayed at this hotel as a friend had chosen it as her wedding venue. Unfortunately, both the bride and her guests were disappointed.

We checked in at 2pm and asked if it would be possible to get some food before we started to get ready for the wedding. The receptionist told us that the restaurant shut at 2pm, and the chef had already gone home (it was literally dead on 2pm!). She said she might be able to see what's available and would call us in our room to confirm. She didn't, so we called her and asked if we could have something sent to us whilst we go ready. She said she could offer some sandwiches, and then asked if we were going to collect them, or (in a very rude tone) if she had to bring them over herself. Isn't that what room service is?! To be fair, when the sandwiches did arrive, they were nice. We just didn't care for her attitude.

The room was very dated and rather cold. It generally needs updating, the apricot bathroom suite had seen better days! We couldn't figure out how to turn the heating on so didn't have the best of night's sleep as we were so cold (and it was only September!).

In the main restaurant of the hotel, there was paint peeling off the walls and ceiling, the curtains were ripped and tatty. During breakfast, there was never a fully replenished buffet available, we were always waiting for them to top one of the items up as they'd constantly run out (despite not being that busy). They had also served toast where the bread was mouldy!

During the wedding, we tried to order some sparkling wine or champagne and were told that they only had one bottle chilled (isn't that what people drink at weddings?!). We later found out that they did have more in the cellar, the bar staff just hadn't bothered to go and get any more. By the time we realised this, it was too late as it would've taken too long to chill the wine.

I won't even go into the issues that the bride had in planning her wedding with the hotel (although I will say that when I spoke with the wedding manager a few days before the wedding, she didn't even know the groom's name!).

Overall, a real shame for my friend who had entrusted her big day in this hotel. We definitely won't be back!

Room Tip: Just don't stay here!

We have stayed here on overnight visits many times before and always found it excellent value for money.

We booked room 11 again, one of the superior rooms, (but not superior prices.) this is our favourite room just up one flight of stairs. The room has a large bay window and side windows with lovely views over the gardens; good quality mahogany furniture and bed, with 2 easy chairs coffee table and desk, the en suite could do with updating but at the price charged was satisfactory.

On entering our room there was bottled water and a small box of four Thornton’s chocolates waiting on the table, a nice touch we were later told had just been introduced, presumably only in the superior rooms?

The small dining room at the end of the lounge bar which to us had always looked a little dated and out of place, had been transformed into another lounge area with sofas and nice easy chairs; this gave the whole area a much improved integral feel and look.

Dinner was now served in the dining room used for breakfast, a much bigger room overlooking the gardens.

We commented that the menu was much better this time and that there was a much bigger choice, we were told they had a new chef since our last visit. Unable to choose we both decided to have fillet steak which came with the usual garnish and chips, this turned out to be one the best fillet steaks we had eaten in a while served with superb homemade chips. Wine and Drinks from the bar at this hotel are very reasonably priced almost comparable to pub prices.

We missed the company of Sue who was away on holiday during our visit, but this was more than made up for by the welcome and excellent service we received from other staff members

Can’t fault this hotel for value and the location, situated five minutes off the M5 set within beautiful gardens, with ample parking spaces at the front of the hotel, some of the decor in parts of the hotel may be a little dated but considering the prices charged this year we think it offers excellent value for money.

Room Tip: Ring the hotel direct ask for a room overlooking the gardens

Checked in for two rooms, a double with travel cot and a twin. Both rooms are fantastic , large and lovely decorated. Staff couldn't be nicer and more helpful. As long as breakfast is good couldn't have a better stay anywhere

Room Tip: Little bit hard to find as roads have changed, but locals were really helpful.

First time at this hotel. I had a room in the main building and it was very noisy and difficult to sleep, as function was going on in bar area below, was woken at 2 am, by other residents returning to their room and again at 7.30 am when the linen truck pulled up outside. Room, was clean, mostly, but no towels in my room. Had to go and ask. the hotel is looking very tired and in need of some updating. At the moment the pink draylon furniture in the bar area looks very 80's. The staff were all very nice, and helpful though. BUt they were rushed off their feet. Breakfast was very good and all cooked food was fresh, in the buffet style.

Room Tip: rooms on the front of the main building, some you can hear the function below. and overlooking car...

The room, gardens and food was lovely.
My short stay was perfect and again I must mention Sue for her being so friendly.
I will definitely come back soon.

When we arrived with out family the buildings looked a bit dated but our stay was just lovely. We had a family room which was very spacious and clean and comfortable. The children used the wifi all week which was free. The food was great. We ate out for some meals and wished we stayed and ate in the hotel. The drinks were reasonably charged and good selection. The wine was particularly good. Great staff who were always attentive. Lots to see and do in the area.
