What a lovely hotel. Tucked away just off the main street in Exeter, St. Olaves is a Georgian gem. We stayed two nights as part of our tour in Devon/Cornwall & would recommend it to anyone. Room was spacious, beds/pillows very comfy, bathroom clean & plumbing worked well (lots of hot water & the toilet flushed well). Breakfast was very nice, lots of offerings to satisfy anyone's needs.

Had an child free weekend and decided to return to Exeter, so randomly booked this little hotel - an unexpected little gem! The hotel is just lovely, based in a little courtyard just off the main street, so only minutes to walk to great shopping and eating. It is a really quaint hotel, lots of features and a beautiful winding staircase. We stayed in room 4 which overlooks the courtyard. The room is lovely with a huge very comfortable bed, lovely en-suite and a little seating/dressing area, all done in a french style of decor. Unfortunately, due to there being a wedding, the restaurant was closed so we had to eat out in the city, which was fine because there are hundreds to choose from! The proximity to the shopping areas is great as we easily popped back to drop stuff off instead of lugging bags around. We didn't have any trouble parking in the courtyard, but the entrance is immediately opposite a public car park if necessary. The breakfast was lovely on the Sunday morning - plenty of choice and well cooked. The only downside was that the wedding guest's returning to their rooms at gone midnight were quite noisy, but probably didn't realise that a) they were being noisy, b) that there were people staying in the hotel not connected to the wedding party and c) that a courtyard being a courtyard, sounds echo around it very nicely!! Other than that, we would happily stay there again when we return to Exeter.

The was our 4th stay at St Olaves Hotel, and on this occasion we were allocated room 5 on the second floor of the main Georgian building. It was a well appointed room overlooking the courtyard. We booked on-line and e-mailed to confirm the booking and to book a table in the restaurant. We were looking forward to the restaurant as we have eaten here before, and the food has always been excellent. Unfortunately, we were advised that the restaurant was closed due to a wedding, but we were recommended Cote Brasserie, which is just a short walk away to the Cathedral Yard, and was excellent too.

The room was clean, tastefully furnished, and the bed very comfortable. We have previously stayed in the Mint annex, which is the oldest house in Exeter, dating back to medieval times. Quite different to the main Hotel, and perhaps not everybody's taste, but we loved it there too.

Conveniently located for shopping, visiting the Cathedral, and other places of interest in and around the centre of Exeter.

Room Tip: All the main hotel rooms overlook the courtyard. I am not aware of any rooms that overlook the road...

The location near the city centre is excellent. The staff are very friendly and the food was good. The eccentric room layout, necessitated by the age of the building, added to its charm. A very good place to spend two days celebrating a special birthday.

We stayed two nights in April 2014. We travelled with a 3 year old and a 1 year old. It was very family friendly and nothing that we asked for (weetabix at breakfast, high chair, cot bed and travel cot), able to eat food in the bar when a wedding was on and there was no food on offer was too much. Breakfasts were lovely, the room (we stayed in room 1) was plush and comfortable and was a suite, so that we could have our 3 year old in a "different" room to the toddler and my husband and I. We were always able to find parking in the hotel car park. We'd definitely return to this hotel if we visit Exeter again.

Room Tip: If you are travelling with kids, room 1 is a good one (although was slightly noisy on the night the...

Surprisingly tranquil so close to the city centre. Breakfast was good and varied for a relatively small hotel. We had dinner on the first night which again was good. Staff were attentive and helpful. Negatives? - our room was furnished a little haphazardly without it appeared much thought for the people staying in it. The bathroom similarly and in need of a makeover. However some re-decoration was in progress in other parts of the hotel - and the bed was very comfortable!

My partner and I stayed at St Olaves hotel at the end of March, we have stayed there before and loved it, once again we were not disappointed! Even though we were so close to the centre of city we decided we would eat in the hotel restaurant as we couldn't resist the menu! Fantastic fresh food, lovely service it couldnt get any better and to make our night even more perfect they had my favourite bottle of wine on the menu!! We stayed in one of the rooms that had just been refubished and we found the decor to be a great improvement, if you are looking for something a little different ask to stay in Room 9, we loved it! This hotel is a little oasis as it has been described! Would certainly recommend and will definitely be returning! Thank you for a wonderful experience :-)
