We wanted a couple of days away and after a bit of research, booked The White Hart Hotel and very pleased we were with our choice.
The hotel is well situated for the city and all its history, huge choice of restaurants and bars and culture.
We opted for a a light lunch at the hotel bar whilst waiting to check in, there was plenty on the menu, very much typical pub food, was very pleasant, and of course breakfast each morning. At breakfast, your order is taken at your table for the main part, offering the usual sausage, bacon, eggs etc.... and you self service toast/cereals/yougurt/fruits/juices and tea/coffee. A good sized dining room with a lovely calm atmosphere and very pleasant, efficient staff.
Check in/out is very straightforward, the reception staff were also all very efficient, polite and informative. We requested two extra pillows and they were delivered to our room in an instant.
We had read a great deal of reviews prior to booking and most were positive peppered with the odd negative. We were in the old part of the hotel, Room 1 to be precise, which overlooked the carpark. It was extremely warm in the room however there were two fans provided. We didn't use them as we were happy to have the windows open whilst we were in the room. Of course you hear the odd vehicle in the carpark but certainly nothing to stress over. The noisiest culprits we think are the gulls in the morning......but even that was no big deal! As it's the old part of the hotel, the doors seemed quite old and heavy and you might, occasionally hear another guests door slam shut but nothing too bad.
The room was clean and tidy. The bathroom immaculate with a great shower.
The only niggle was that we felt the duvet was a little on the small size for the bed as it didn't even reach the sides but we didn't feel it necessary to complain as it was so warm that on this occasion less was probably more!
We really have only positives about this hotel and highly recommend. Will definitely be top of our list to stay next time we visit the city.
