This hotel is located close to the cathedral and Quay ares of Eexter and the location is one of its trong points, it remains a proper Inn style hotel with a quality pub style atmosphere to the bars and a maze to find your way back to you room. All the dark oak and woodchip walls can make it feel a bit dated but then it's history is part of the charm.

Choose it if you want a bit of character rather than an out of the box style flat pack standard big chain hotel.

Hello there,

Many thanks for your lovely review on the hotel. The location really is ideal if it's a city break you are looking for. The free parking for hotel guests makes it even more convenient.

The original parts of the hotel date back to the late 14th early 15th Century and I am delighted that you enjoyed the character and atmosphere of the White Hart Hotel.

We hope to welcome you back in the very near future.

Best Regards

Just had 3 nights at The White Hart and loved it. We had previously visited this Hotel bar for a drink an liked the look of it. As we visit elderly relatives a couple of times a year we decided to book in this time. From the warm and friendly welcome from the lovely Elle at reception and throughout our stay, the staff were so friendly. The room was cosy and clean, the location was very central, breakfast was excellent, the price was reasonable and on top of all of this there was free parking. Oh nearly forgot that there is also 20% off of meals. Really loved it and will be back - many thanks

I am so pleased to hear that your recent stay at the hotel was enjoyable for you. I am thrilled that Elle and the rest of the team looked after you so well. I will pass on your lovely comments to them. The location really is perfect for shopping and sightseeing and the free use of the car park for hotel residents makes it even more convenient.

Having been brought up in Exeter we needed to stay centrally,to visit a relative. The staff were very friendly and helpful. The room was very comfortable. We ate in the hotel and our meal was very good. Breakfast was excellent and it was a pleasant change to be offered such a choice. I would definitely recommend it. I researched the history again as it is a few years since I have been there and that added to the charm of it.

Room Tip: Seagulls very noisy in the mornings,so would sleep not facing the front of the hotel

Hello there,

Many thanks for your lovely review. I am delighted to hear that you enjoyed your stay at the White Hart Hotel. I am pleased that you found the staff friendly and helpful, the meals to your liking and that the bedroom was comfortable for you. Apologies for the dreaded seagulls! A slight inconvenience of being just off of the coast I'm afraid.

As for the history of the White Hart, it truly is fascinating! If William Wynard (the original owner and town recorder) was still with us, no doubt he would have some interesting stories to tell us!

We hope to see you again in the near future.

Nice clean little inn. Rooms are on the small side but are clean and everything works. Free wifi. Good location with a very friendly pub on the ground floor. One can walk to the the cathedral, major shops and see the quay easily. Great for business or a weekend city visit.

Hi BabaJ,

Thank you for your feedback.

Yes we have a fantastic location here right in the heart of the City and we are glad you enjoyed the pub.
Some of our single rooms are fairly small, but these rooms (5) are generally the cheapest hotel rooms in the city. While they are of the same spec as all our other rooms they are just smaller. Because its such an old building all 55 rooms are different shapes and sizes but the price often reflects that. We will hopefully see you again. And if so please ring us direct to book, our reception staff have intimate knowledge of all rooms so can give guidance on booking.

Many Thanks.

The White Hart Hotel is a charming 17th-century coaching inn, located within a 5 minutes' walk of the Cathedral. The rooms were well appointed; the shower was particularly nice. The breakfast was generous and cooked to order. Being able to have poached eggs on toast was a nice break from the "full English." The staff were kind and helpful and the wifi was free and strong. Drinks in the hotel bar were excellent as well: good selection of beers and ciders on tap.

Hi SCo4,

Thank you for taking time to do a review. We are happy that you enjoyed your visit to Exeter and our hotel.
Yes the building was a 17th Century coaching inn, but was actually built in the 14th Century! Very old. I am glad to see the team helped make your experience even better and that you had time to try some of our wonderful selection of beers.

Many Thanks.

As a previous Exeter resident returning for a wedding, I was looking for a reasonably priced crash pad for a Saturday night. The White Hart's main positives are its city centre location (all sights within easy walking distance) and the fact that the building compromises a charming old pub.

The room itself was dated, with peeling wallpaper and an old carpet. Our room was in a separate building from the old pub, and this area is showing its age. Tatty and in need of a refit. The room was reasonably clean though and the bathroom of an ok standard. Breakfast was average but worth having as it is included in the price.

I would say this place offers reasonable value for an overnight stay but don't expect a modern hotel. If I was staying in Exeter for a weekend or longer I would choose alternative accommodation.

Hi,

Thank you for your feedback. We have discussed your review and we are disappointed we didn't get the opportunity to rectify any problems you had with your room. All rooms were new 3 years ago and are constantly maintained with reported errors rectified immediately.
Our hotel is charming and old and most is listed. It certainly isn't modern (Except for the bedrooms) and we are part of 'historical places of interest' and World Heritage.
With that said we have often the best priced rooms in the City Centre and we are looking to offer our guests a great value stay.

Many Thanks.
