Sunday lunch - 18 of us celebrating an 18th birthday - with one picky eater - me - on a gluten-free diet. The service was friendly and relaxed and when I discretely asked what I might be able to eat I was presented with a comprehensive second menu detailing a wide range of common allergies and what dish was in or out for each, plus which ones could be modified to be made suitable. Our waitress Natalie was very kind and very helpful, and when I chose a dish it was then run past the manager who came to check it through with me too. But not in an over-bearing way! I was made to feel very normal! And then the food was great - all the standard dishes were enjoyed by the rest of our big group - and my g-f choices were fantastic - especially the coconut ice cream dessert. Big thanks to Natalie and the rest of the team for making lunch so enjoyable for all.

Food is always consistently good at any wagamama and this was no exception.
Service was ok but items were forgotten and other tables near us were being delivered wrong orders.
The table we were seated at outside had an enormous fresh seagull poo on it and I objected to sitting there. No apology was made and they seated someone else there who cleaned it themselves!
5/5 for food.2/5 for service.

Thank Mainly J

After arriving and being seated promptly with menus, outside (which was a pleasant surprise as it was very busy being cloudless and sunny) - lunch seemed to take a turn for the worse for my party of three.

Firstly, we were given no more than 30 seconds to look at the menu before the waitress came back to persistently ask us 'three ladies' if we would like anything to drink, polite enough - despite one of our party was very clearly male.

After the barrage demanding our drinks, (they did arrive in decent time - I give them that.) We were then hounded every 3 minutes by different waiters asking for our food order. In doing so, actually prevented us from reading their hefty menu. Finally, after deciding under preassure - and trying to give our order to a very pleasant central-european waiter - the first pushy female waiter who had mistaken my male friend for a woman - cut him off saying "If he's bothering you we can send him away." WHY?! Why send away the one waiter actually doing his job to an acceptable standard? ... And then she did!

It ended up taking forever to actually give our order to the waitress, who's priorities were clearly more on making awful and borderline offensive jokes. During which time it was also made very evident she did not have a clue about the food the restaurant served, or the cuisine on which it was based - through her rather forceful declaration that ALL Gyoza, other than their traditional 'chicken' filled ones were 'abnormal'. Gyoza is traditionally made with pork.

By this point, the crowd had cleared some-what, but for some reason - another party was then sat down at the same table as us. Granted, it was a long enough table - but when they are at least 5 free tables within clear view. I don't understand why this was necessary? Even the other party thought this was strange and asked if they could sit elsewhere - to which the same pushy female waitress said "No, here's alright." and walked off with a smile. We shared a laugh with the other group at this, but honestly - why?

Our drinks arrived promptly. Then our food started to trickle in one dish at a time, starters last and with 5 minutes between the first main dish, and 10 minutes between the second and third main dish.

We were only given one set of cutlery, which was place directly on to the unwiped table surface and we had to walk inside to get the others ourselves. No napkins provided (nor were they readily available on the table.) The troublesome Gyoza, arrived last, because as the waitress came abruptly, and again forcefully explained that another 'moronic' waiter (her words) had dropped them, and they had to be remade. She then spent over 5 minutes demonstrating and joking about bringing out a dish that had been dropped on the floor, laughing all the while to herself - whilst we, the group next to us, and another table were all staring. All in all it took an additional 20 minutes to receive the Gyoza.

The food itself, was fine. It's not authentic Japanese of course, as stated by Wagamama's it's 'inspired by' - So don't expect your usual favourites (there is a Yo! Sushi around the corner - for a better attempt at that.) But generally, it was tasty and the main course portions are quite large (enough for two to share, for a light lunch) - though the rice dish could have used more sauce.

The waiters started collecting our plates before we had finished eating (literally still putting food in our mouths) - but we felt so pressured by them to hurry up that on their third attempt to take our plates, we relented. (We were at that point one of three tables left outside, though it was fullish inside.) Our table, had still not been wiped down by this point either.

Out came the desert menu's, and we immediately ordered. After 10 minutes, came our next coffee, tea and dessert. Our dessert order came wrong as well. We asked the waitress (a different one, as between encounters with Ms. Pushy we had a different waiter every time) to correct it - Pushy came back out and started saying that the 'Kitchen apparently can't read'. I appreciate the explanation - but, is it really necessary to talk about your co-workers in such a way to customers? Finally the correct dessert arrives, and again the cutlery was placed directly onto the unwiped, out-door table.

By this point we were the only people seated outside the front of the restaurant, and had previously asked if we were allowed to smoke outside, to which they said yes. We had especially waited until there was no other people around (let's face it, trying to eat while others are smoking sucks.) As we did, a different waitress rushed outside to tell us to stop. Which of course, was completely fine - but, was confusing as we had already asked and been told yes. Understandably she asked us not to smoke, and that if we did want to - could we stand up. That was the distinction. We couldn't smoke sitting at the table outside, with no one else around - but we could if we stood up? We decided not to bother, to pay the bill and to leave. To find that we had also been additionally charged for the mistaken dessert and dropped Gyoza, and they actually demanded we pay for them. Again, I was seen by a completely different staff member.

All in all, although the food was ok - it's not worth the hassle of enduring this kind of service, nor the amount we ended up having to pay at the end.
