“Comfortable & clean - convenient for the Exeter Central station”
Reviewed 27 July 2013

Spent 2 nights at Park View B&B and were very pleased with our accommodation. We had Room 8 at the top of the house (be warned if you can't manage stairs - there are 3 flights!) The room was clean, with a large double bed, plenty of wardrobe space, bedside tables & a dressing table, good lighting and an excellent en suite bathroom. A large tv was provided & also 2 armchairs.
Hairdryer was available from reception. Excellent wifi connection too for our tablets. It was very warm in the room and it would have been useful to be able to secure the two large windows open as they had a tendency to swing shut! An electric fan would also have been good as it was very humid on the days we stayed.
Breakfast was good - although I don't eat wheat or sugar so was limited to a cooked breakfast. This was freshly cooked although I suspect bacon had been cooked in advance & kept warm, as it was rather dry. Mushrooms were tinned ones which had been fried and had an unpleasant tang to them.
Unfortunately when several guests arrived at once, 15 minutes before the end of breakfast service there was a considerable wait for cooked breakfasts but I guess this will happen in any establishment.
We were able to leave our case in the lounge whilst we met a friend for lunch and return later to collect it prior to catching our train back to London.
Overall park View is a good place to stay convenient to central Exeter, very close to Exeter central rail station and at £70 a night for a large double room with breakfast is brilliant value. I would definitely stay here again.

Room Tip: Room number 8 is a large ensuite room at the top of the house with views over the park. Excellent wi...

I very much enjoyed my week-long stay in this wonderful place with the park and garden view. Nikki and Phil are very pleasant and welcoming owners who take pride in their business and service. The rooms and bathrooms are very clean and cozy. The breakfast is delicious and individually cooked. It is an overall great experience. I would definitely stay there again.

Second time at this nice b&b. can recommend.
Will come back and stay again. Ideally situated for town and uni. Also close to train stations. Exeter is a beautiful place and this place accommodates everyone's needs.

We stayed here after spending a night in the village of Exton to attend families day for my son at the CTCRM in Lympstone where we spent a night for £70 in the beautiful b&b Riverdown, the same price as it was to stay here, but a big difference! We wanted one night to see Exeter after travelling by train from London. The positives are that the room we was given was clean, although we were shocked to find a rather tatty brown blanket on the bed under a dated bed cover. The room was dull and lacked imagination or indeed any colour, with white melomine furniture that was reminiscent of the 1970's. The host didn't seem that interested in us and promptly showed us to our room and just as promptly left, though he did carry our case up one flight of stairs. The bathroom was decorated in peach and equally dated with a small shower my husband said he found it hard to use as his arms kept hitting the sides of the walls! Though the water was hot. We surprisingly slept well as the bed was comfortable and we were very tired. Breakfast was better than we anticipated, although the porridge my husband ordered resembled oats- so- simple and the bacon was cremated so much that I had to leave most of it. It was served in a pretty but dated breakfast room with guests sitting close to each other with good service if not great food! With a bit of tweaking this could be much better as it is just a couple of things that need addressing, mainly the decoration and attention to the breakfast. The hotel did have a strange smell when you entered also. It is close to the city centre, in a pretty road opposite a park and is quiet, it is ok for a one night stay but I wouldn't call £70 a night a budget hotel as some others have mentioned, as we have stayed in lovely accomodation for a similar price! Exeter is lovely to visit, esp the museum and St Nicholas Priory. Easy walking distance to both Exeter St David's and Exeter Central stations this is well situated! Also to add, when we made our booking the girl who took it didn't even record our names and took our phone number down incorrectly, we we told she wasn't new staff so this is not something we would find impressive! We would not choose to stay here again!

Room Tip: Don't stay here! Clean but dated!

An excellent welcome and introduction to rooms, everything clean, fresh and tidy...even the tops of the mirrors were dust free.
Ihad the shared bathroom option and only had to wait one morning out of four to use the shower. The shower and toilets were shiningly clean...shower was adequate.
My room was a little small...but I knew it would be, and I only slept there.
There is a lovely front lounge which you are free to use...big comfy sofas and a large screen TV.
Lots of information on local goings on in the lobby.
Breakfast every morning was served with a smile...and a simpsons waistcoat....and was piping hot and delicious. More tea sir...more toast sir? Was asked to every diner.
On returning to my room every morning I found it had already been serviced and even my jim jams had been neatly folded onto the bed for me.
My only negative is that it could use a lick of paint here and there.
Quality service and hospitality...well done all at Park View.

Room Tip: Dont worry too much about sharing the wash rooms, the quality of service here is worth the sacrifice...

We found the Parkview on Trip Advisor and were not disapppointed. We were two Americans wanting one night before traveling on to Devon. As we were arrivng by train with a suitcase they suggested we take an inexpensive cab up their steep hill but said we could easily walk down the next morning which was true. The inn was beyond clean, the rooms comfortable and the breakfast delicious. They helped us with directions and suggested a fun place for dinner. We were pleased at the value.
