“One of the most peaceful B&B's in the South West ...”

... I only stayed the one night, but was welcomed by Dorothy with a nice cup of tea. The room was clean and the bed was amazingly comfortable. The view from the window was beautiful and in the evening swifts and swallows swooping across the backdrop of gentle hills makes this place very special. The breakfast was lovely, and was treated to the best bowl of porridge I've ever had! The power shower after a long days cycling was also a great way to unwind. Highly recommend this B&B to anyone, but especially mountain bikers, as Haldon, which is one of the best new trail centres is only a few miles away.

Little tip for the ladies: Take a hair dryer if you need one ;-)

My husband and I stayed here for one night last saturday as a friend was getting married in the area. We were planning to pick up the key and drop off our bags before the wedding but were held up so had to pop in later on between wedding and reception. Dorothy was more than obliging with us changing our plans and was friendly and hospitable when we arrived. We just popped in to leave our bags and pick up the key then went off again for the reception. The room was larger than expected and clean and comfy with a lovely view and garden to sit in - had the weather been more obliging! The en suite was very nice too and shower was also very good.

Breakfast was very nice with a good selection and well cooked, as well as fruit and toast. The only thing i would say was that there was one 4 seater table around which the guests ate breakfast and it would have been nice to have separate tables so my husband and I could sit alone. Having said this, it wasn't a problem at all and we were joined by a very amiable chap so can't complain!

Overall a lovely place, we would return if in the area again.

The rooms were clean and well decorated. The beds super comfortable and bathroom facilities very good. Breakfast was made to order and portion size was generous. Dorothy was friendly and approachable. I feel that Dorothy could have more local knowledge of the town, restaurants and nearby areas, this would make the experience of staying there more complete for tourists. The tea, coffee and biscuits on arrival was a nice touch and a welcome treat after a long drive. Thanks Dorothy!!

I was travelling to Exeter for a funeral and searched for a B&B for 2 nights close to the city without actually being in the city. I found this on a internet search although it did not appear on Tripadvisor - well, it should be, other travellers using tripadvisor should know of this gem. It is located in a small village just a few miles out from the city centre, you can drive into Exeter either the back roads or on the nearby A38 which is a continuation of the M5, so it's ideal for a stopover if you're on your way down into Cornwall - the actual house is on a working farm although it is nowhere near to the business end of the farm so you actually have little idea of the farm itself. The grounds and garden are beautiful and I would imagine have been professionally landscaped. The B&B seems to be run mainly by the lady of the farm Dorothy who was nothing less than extremely pleasant and friendly throughout my stay. My room was wonderful, lovely views (see pic) from the windows, very clean and airy with everything the traveller could want, including wi-fi. The breakfasts were large and lovely, both days I stayed there I had nothing else to eat until evening due to the size of Dorothy's brekkies ! And a very competitive rate too. All in all heartily recommended.
